At Fatimiyah Community Centre three Industrial fans have been added to minimize the suffocation and heat. Besides twomore split Air Conditioners, multi media system in the ladies section upstairs and extra washrooms have been added.Extensive renovation at Hussaini Bagh No. 1 Graveyard has been completed. The renovation of Imambara with fresh electrificationand equipment, the quarter for the staff, concrete pavements and lighting poles, water connections at various points,washrooms and storage and repair of graves and plantation were completed at a cost of Rs.25 lacs. Space for 200 graveshas been retrieved for future use for community members. 29 unauthorized occupants of the graveyard premises have beenrelocated in Manghopir.The registration of the Pakistan Federation is in final stage. The registration of the Federation was necessitated with the passageof a resolution that henceforth, only Federation of <strong>Jamaat</strong>s in a region would qualify for the membership of the WorldFederation after 2009. The <strong>Jamaat</strong>s in Dist. Badin, <strong>Karachi</strong>, Hyderabad and Mirpur Bathoro in Dist Thatta are qualified tobecome members of the Federation.The FRC has worked hard in reconciling matrimonial disputes. With the increase in number of disputes among the coupleand family, vigorous efforts had to be made to reunite the families.The aging transport fleet has been kept moving with extensive repairs at a high cost. 800 school children are ferried daily toand from the school, with punctuality. Besides the funeral entourage, the transport is hired out on weekends to earn a substantialamount to meet the high cost of maintaining the fleet, which being old entails extra burden on the <strong>Jamaat</strong> finances.A number of constitutional amendments were proposed after a lot of deliberation. These were however withdrawn due totechnical reasons at the AGM in Dec.2007. Several clauses of the Constitution are obsolete with the passage of time andneed to be amended immediately.The Accounting system has been restructured and is now working efficiently. The draft accounts for the period from 1 July2008 to 31 March 2009 (9 months) have been presented to the Managing Committee and discussed in its meeting held on 1April 2009 and placed on record.Patient Welfare at Fatimiyah Hospital has been introduced with collection of donations and zakat amounting to 40 lacs. Thisis disbursed to needy patients.Marriage support for the brides has been enhanced and quite significant number of families have benefited from this facility.Total disbursement exceeded Rs.20 lacs in the last two years.Donation Box – Alhamdulillah in the nine months to 31 March 2009, we have achieved the collection of Rs.12 lacs, whichcompares to the entire collection of the previous year.Total amount of Donations collected under various heads during this period amounts to Rs. 13.5 crore and an amount ofRs.1.5 crore as Khums. Payment of share of Khums, as per the instructions of Ayatullah Syed Ali Seestani, is being regularlymade to Agha Yusuf Ali Nafsi.The properties of the <strong>Jamaat</strong> on Britto Road presently valued at Rs.100 crore have been meticulously maintained to provideutmost benefit to the community. Continuous repairs and maintenance were carried out as a routine activity. Incompletedocumentation with the Excise and Tax authorities was completed and arrears cleared. All properties belong solely to the<strong>Jamaat</strong> and are owned and registered in the name of <strong>Khoja</strong> (<strong>Pirhai</strong>) <strong>Shia</strong> <strong>Isna</strong> <strong>Asheri</strong> <strong>Jamaat</strong> <strong>Karachi</strong> without any claim fromany quarter whatsoever. These are meant for the benefit of the community and managed by the elected representatives ofthe <strong>Khoja</strong> community.It is for human to err, and there may be shortcomings in the management of the affairs of the <strong>Jamaat</strong> despite the best effortsput in. The affairs of the <strong>Jamaat</strong> need extensive time and efforts by the office bearers and the volunteers who, despite severalconstraints, have tried to manage the affairs in the best possible manner.We are highly indebted to Ayatullah Seestani for the Ijaza for Khums amounting Rs.14 crore for the FSECD (2008) and ofRs.50 lacs per annum each, for health and educational activities on account of running expenditure.
