Bob and Karen were members of the gro<strong>up</strong> before taking on the managementrole. Saturday Night Social operates at weekends and in the evening at a local resource andinclusion centre for <strong>people</strong> <strong>with</strong> enduring mental health issues. Bob and Karen realised thatthere were a number of services and gro<strong>up</strong>s available on week days, but there was nothingavailable at other times. Saturday Night Social offers <strong>people</strong> the opportunity <strong>to</strong> <strong>social</strong>ise,feel included, and have a low cost home cooked meal. The gro<strong>up</strong> is highly valued by the<strong>people</strong> who use it.Interventions Outcomes ChallengesSaturday Night Social havehad <strong>s<strong>up</strong>port</strong> and advice fromthe Project Co-ordina<strong>to</strong>r onpotential sources of fundingand ways <strong>to</strong> develop andsustain the serviceThere is a possibility that theservice may end.The long term sustainabilityof the service is in questionbecause the volunteers whorun it find it personallychallenging due <strong>to</strong> their ownfluctuating health conditions.Gaining funding or income <strong>to</strong>run Saturday Night Social isalso difficult.6. CLEO (Community Lived Experience Organisation) - formerly Oldham Open User ForumThis user led gro<strong>up</strong> is designed and delivered by <strong>people</strong> experiencing emotional and <strong>social</strong>trauma and offers peer <strong>s<strong>up</strong>port</strong>, mental health training and advocacy for <strong>people</strong> <strong>with</strong> livedexperience of mental distress. The voluntary gro<strong>up</strong> has been operating for 10 years. Thegro<strong>up</strong> have recently developed a guidance pack for schools around mental health issueswhich has resulted in positive feedback from the Chair of the Mental Health ImprovementProgramme and Oldham Council’s former head of modernisation.Interventions Outcomes ChallengesThe Project Co-ordina<strong>to</strong>r has The gro<strong>up</strong> now operate from The gro<strong>up</strong> feel that theyhelped <strong>to</strong> facilitate the Centre for Independent need more help, <strong>s<strong>up</strong>port</strong> andpartnership arrangements Living, where they have a partnership working in order<strong>with</strong> the local council by proactive role as board <strong>to</strong> develop the serviceengaging CLEO <strong>with</strong> the members.further <strong>with</strong> better facilities,19
