ABSTRACT OF PROJECT PROPOSAL1. Project No. : KFRI 291/982. Investigators : M. BalasundaranE.J. Maria Florence3. Title of the Project : Maintenance and Growth ObservationsOn Multilocation Provenance Trial Plotsof Eucalypts and Acacias.4. Objectives :i. Maintenance of provenance trial plots of eucalypts established atKodanad, Muthanga and Vallakkadavu and acacia plots at Kodanad andKulathupuzha by fire tending, weeding, proper labeling, etc.ii.iii.iv.Recording growth measurements such as GBH and height, and diseaseresistance.Selection of candidate plus trees and development of new eucalypt andacacia clones for supplying to the Kerala Forest Department.Coppicing a portion of eucalypts provenance trial plots and studying thecoppicing ability of provenances.v. Supply of quality seeds of eucalypts and acacias to the ForestDepartment and other agencies.5. Project period : April 1998 -March 20036. Funding agency : Kerala Forest Department
