Acacia3.4.1. Growth performance of acacia provenancesThe mean height and GBH of acacia provenances planted at Kottappara andKulathupuzha were recorded every year. But the measurements for the Kulathupuzha plotwere available for the first three years. The estimated yield at sixth year (mean of the twolocations) and at third year separately for Kottappara and Kulathupuzha are provided inTable 21. A. mangium provenances showed the highest mean yield of 61.6 m 3 /ha/yr atthe end of third year at Kulathupuzha. Unfortunately it was not possible to find out themean yield at sixth year as the measurements were unavailable. However, measurementsof MOREHEAD provenance was available at Kottappara site at the end of sixth yearand the yield was the highest (116.2 m 3 /ha/yr). When the yields at the end of third yearwere considered, BALIMO ARAMIA RIVER, CLAUDIE RIVER18994, DESI DESIMOREHEAD, WIPIM ORIOMO, KAPAL VILLAGE/ORIOMO and MOREHEADprovenance are recommended for planting in Kerala (Table 23). A. crassicarpa was thenext high yielding species. LIMAL-MALAM, BENSBACH WP, MOREHEAD andPONGAKI E OF MOREHEAD are recommended for planting. A. auriculiformis was thethird best species for Kerala. MELVILLE ISLAND SO, DIMISISI, S OF COEN CAPEYORK, MOREHEAD R ROUKU and SPRINGWALE provenance are recommended33
