From the desk(s) of 3Rock Youth…love thy network? What's happened to the center? Not theexclusive but the inclusive centrifuge thatmixed lives so long ago? Villages used to built onthe concept of the blend, the stir, the buzz, thebump and nudge of community. Recently, I wasspeaking to a rector who lamented that thereare "no more neighbors just networks". Thegeographical heartbeat has been replaced by atransient pace-maker. Streams that runcongruently without merging, leaving us staringat one another in our own fishbowls. So, howdoes somebody go about loving thy network?Or is that even possible? The humanity seemsremoved & replaced by a decentralized & faceless,only-know-you-if-it-benefits-me-system.How do we re-balance the wobble? 2 wordsgatherand give.We rise up, we reach out and wewalk alongside. We hangout in our cul de sacs, invite the new family in for dinner, push stalledcars (thanks to my neighbor for the push), runcommunity BBQs, cut the next doors grass, smile, dust off the welcome mat, jump out ofbowls; walk out the front door, look for life and“love thy neighbor” and rediscover community.Jumping time.Greg at east Coast fM.We've had a great month working alongsidesome brilliant youth workers & rectors. Justbefore Christmas we dared the snows ofWicklow & joined Roly Heaney & Alan Breen ata family service in Redcross & in mid-Januaryjoining Kevin Brew & Stephen Byford out atHowth.
