TVEP• The largest rights based Victim Empowerment Intervention inLimpopo Province• 24/7 Trauma Centres at all Municipal Hospitals (full servicecentres)• Help Desks at 14 Rural Clinics• <strong>Zero</strong> <strong>Tolerance</strong> <strong>Village</strong> <strong>Alliance</strong> Programme (SGBV PrimaryPrevention Intervention)• Empowerment Cluster (community drama, mobilisation)• Access to Justice Case Monitoring Programme (more than9 000 cases monitored since 2000)


Primary Purpose of the Project• To test the feasibility of the ZTVA model inpreventing SGBV• Enhancing disclosure of SGBV• Increasing timely access to comprehensiveservices and follow up care for survivors ofSGBV.


Project Goals & Objectives• Improved uptake of trauma centre servicesby survivors of SGBV living in ZTVAvillages;• Two communities mobilized to prevent andreport SGBV, and provide support tosurvivors;• Microfinance services linked to the ZTVAmodel.


Planned Project Activities• Review & Revise Community Map, Conduct BaselineStudy• Appointment of Community Level Activists• Establish Partnerships, (UPENN, SEF, DoH, TraditionalLeadership)• Train Stakeholder’s Forums, Traditional Leaders,• Alignment of public service points• Community Campaigns & Dialogues• Pledge-Taking Ceremony & Awarding of ZTVAMembership• Conduct Endline Survey and Key Informant Interviews


Measurement Strategy• Baseline versus End line survey• When compared to baseline, endline indicatorwill need to demonstrate any changes inKnowledge, attitude and practice.Data will be captured by means of interviewercompletedquestionnaires, by Field workers anda representative community-wide sample will beinterviewed in each site

Lessons Learnt• The need for more stringent guidelines andtimeframes for productivity• Last minute inputs can set back a project bymonths. The need to make sure everyone is onthe ‘same page’• Ethical reviews are long and cumbersomeprocesses
