Autreypassed from this Life to a much better Home at about 5 a.m., November13th 2012. He will now be with Dollie and a host of familymembers, comrades, fellow SMART's and friends. A.C. Autrey willbe sorely missed but long remembered for many enjoyable times heprovided; also his great "dry" humor, jokes, "pranks" .plus that tremendousand mischievous smile. He is now with "The Love of hislife;" Dollie. Autrey. ....and what a reunion that is. AC had a twinbrother KC who was also an US ARMY veteran. AC married DollieBrown also a twin in 1952 . They were married for 59 years at the time ofher passing in September 2011. "AC and Dollie loved one another deeplyand enjoyed traveling and camping with fellow SMART military retirees" states their children. . We know of no better 50/50promoter and "scrounger" of door prizes, raffle items or fundraisers for SMART muster events than AC. He was trulya very innovative, "persuasive" individual ; known as a man of great generosity. AC's loyalty to SMART and our membershipwas unquestioned . He contributed greatly to many enjoyable (and profitable) SMART musters and events. Asa Father he was loved and respected. One son, Mark Autrey, spoke of his father ( better known as "Pop" to his family)at the Memorial Service on November 17th. said " As fathers go, children say they have the best one.....My fatherwas truly the best " Pop", He was a man of his word! His words were straightforward! He spoke what wason this mind! "Pop" was truly a kind and generous man. All of you that knew him, know that. His last act ofkindness, that I can remember, was always giving a ride to a disabled man that lives in his neighborhood." ACleft the same impression on those who knew that he was truly "the Best" as a friend, comrade and "brother" to all.By.Mark Autrey's permission; anyone wishing to send memorial funds to SMART headquarters is invited to do so. Yourgenerosity and gesture would be greatly appreciated Respectfully and gratefully submitted, Christian Eck A Friend and"brother"
