<strong>Green</strong> <strong>Jobs</strong> Creation ChecklistThis checklist provides an overview of the key decisions that will need <strong>to</strong> be made by your local government in developing a greenjobs plan. Each of the items in this checklist is discussed in greater detail in the previous pages of this <strong>Guide</strong>.❑❑❑❑❑❑❑❑❑❑❑❑❑❑Make a commitment <strong>to</strong> green job development.• Highlight green jobs as an issue in any <strong>for</strong>mal, overarching city/county priorities or strategies;• Address green jobs in any “State of the City/County” addresses; and• Pass a green jobs resolution.Define green jobs <strong>for</strong> your community. Decide how your government will determine what constitutes a green job.Scale the green jobs plan: local or regional. Confirm whether your commitment <strong>to</strong> address green jobs will be focused on alocal ef<strong>for</strong>t, or participation in a broader, regional ef<strong>for</strong>t.(If your government engages in a regional ef<strong>for</strong>t, the remainder of the checklist may be modified depending on the scopeof the jurisdictions involvement.)Form a government green jobs team.• Define the role of the team.• Involve key players.• Secure the buy-in of all appropriate departments.• Consider including regional or state agency staff on your team.Identify external partners.
