<strong>BANGALORE</strong> <strong>METRO</strong> <strong>RAIL</strong> <strong>PROJECT</strong>PRE-QUALIFICATION FOR DESIGN, MANUFACTURE, SUPPLY, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF PASSENGERROLLING STOCK (ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNITS) AND TRAINING OF PERSONNELCORRIGENDUM NO.1. DATED: 02.05.2007.Sl. Reference Appearing as To be read asNo.1 Page 2, Para 1.1 The scope of work comprises design, manufacture, supply,testing and commissioning of Electric Multiple Units andtraining on operation and maintenance to personnel forboth Corridors. It also includes the supply of spares andsupply of operation & maintenance manuals. The carsrequired for the corridors shall be of modern design, lightweight made of Stainless steel/Aluminium, with 3 phaseAC drive having Variable Voltage Variable Frequency(VVVF) control, regenerative braking and suitable forATP, ATC, etc. provided by others. The cars forUnderground/Elevated & At Grade Corridors shall operateon 750V dc Third Rail bottom collector System. Totalrequirement is for 39 train sets of 3-car configuration i.e.117 coaches. Each 3-car train set will comprise of 2Driving Motor (DMC) coaches & 1 Trailer (TC) coach i.e.of DMC+TC+DMC configuration.The scope of work comprises design, manufacture, supply,testing and commissioning of Electric Multiple Units andtraining on operation and maintenance to personnel forboth Corridors. However, it may be noted thatsupply of rolling stock is not a contract package coveredby JBIC loan.Phase - 1 of the Project will be financed partly throughequity participation by the Government of India, (GOI) andGovernment of Karnataka (GOK) and partly through loansfrom Japan Bank for International Co-operation and localBanks/Financial institutions. The package for Design,Manufacture, supply etc of Rolling stock (Tender No.2RS- DM) is funded by contribution of the twoGovernments and not through JBIC loan; it will be aninternational competitive bidding tender and will notrequire JBIC concurrence at any time.


23 Page 2, Para 1.3 The GC will prepare Technical Specifications for thevehicles for both the Corridors and will scrutinise thedesign / drawing submissions of the successful Tendererfor the vehicles and clear the designs after taking approvalof BMRCL. The GC will supervise the designdevelopment of the vehicles and their various systems,through a process of design submissions, and a welldocumenteddesign approval process acceptable toBMRCL. The ……………..PQ Questionnaire.4 Page 3, Para 1.8 The coaches should be modern, lightweight, made ofstainless steel or aluminium with 3 phase AC drive havingVVVF control, regenerative braking, and modern controldevices such as ATP, ATC, etc. Coach bogies should be ofproven design and modern technology. The coaches shallbe required to operate at 750V d.c. Third Rail system onSTANDARD GAUGE (1435 mm).5 Page 5, Para 3.3 The safety worthiness of the rolling stock to be procuredwill be evaluated by an independent agency and sanctionof competent authority will have to be obtained. Safetyworthiness would be to ensure that the various componentsof the rolling stock are within the prescribed limits ofstress, temperature rise etc. and also to ascertain theoscillation behaviour of the rolling stock. Detailed design,calculations and “oscillation trials” will be done in thisconnection.The contractor should be in a position to provide necessarysupport (have experts with adequate qualification,knowledge and experience) to assist BMRCL for effectiveinteraction with concerned authorities.The GC will prepare Technical Specifications for thevehicles for both the Corridors and will scrutinise thedesign / drawing submissions of the successful Tendererfor the vehicles and clear the designs after taking approvalof BMRCL.
