UCS-CMConnection MagazineThe UCS (Universal Connection System)family of products provides a reliable, quickand easy to use system for wiremanagement. The UCS Connection Magazine utilises aninsulation displacement contact (IDC).This provides fast and reliable wiretermination while eliminating time-consumingwire stripping and wrapping or soldering. The design of the IDC terminals allows it toterminate a variety of wire sizes and insulationtypes. It will accept 0.40 mm to 0.80 mm(26 to 20 AWG) solid wire. The contact willterminate hard PE wire insulations as well asthe more common PVC insulation. It’s madeof silver plated brass alloy. The UCS-CM is a 10-pair magazine designedfor Installations where reliable, inexpensive,straight-through termination is desired. Thisincludes distribution frames and on customerpremises, as well as in outside plantinstallations. The plastic magazine surrounds each IDCterminal, making installation and tracing ofwires simpler. All the terminals are recessedwithin the housing, providing an electrically“dead front” which virtually eliminates shortcircuits on the front face.A wide range of accessories is available, suchas test/patch-cords, magazine label holder, hinged label holder and circuit marker plugs.U C S - C M

UCS-CMThe Contact advantagesThe combination of both contact design (a)and slot ribs (b) lead to a significantimprovement in the mechanicalcharacteristics (stress and vibrationresistance) of the connection by:(a) guaranteeing a tighter fixation pointand isolation of the wire.(b) wire contact at 45° angles wichincreases the distance betweenopposite contact points, makes theinstallation easier and minimizesaxial and torsional residual stresses.Connection terminalOvervoltage magazineTest cordsMagazine label holderInstallation toolHinged label holderNumbering setTyco and UCS are trademarks of Tyco International. The information given herein, including drawings, illustrations and schematics which are intended for illustration purposes only, is believed to be reliable.
