The additional20" payload section (with its bulkheadin place with another 5/16" stainlesssteel eye bolt) can be added to lengthen therocket into the 77" Maxi-Magg configuration. The payload section also needed sixmatching holes in its coupler for the reten-tion screws to attach it to the top of the recoverysection, and six more holes for thescrews that attach the nose cone to the topof the payload section. To finish off the rocket, I first re-filletedthe fin/dowel/body joint, put motor retaininghardware on the rear centering ring, epoxied all joints inside the rear fin cage, epoxied the rear centering ring in place, and placed three rail buttons on the fincan and a fourth rail button on the payloadsection. And, of course, I still need to finishpainting the Medi/Maxi-Magg.The recovery system consists of 25 feetof 9/16" tubular nylon, two 1/4" quicklinks, a 9.0 HPR swivel at the point onethird of the length from the fin can, and aTop Flight nylon parachute in the range of50" to 58". Note that steel 1/4" links havea S.W.L. of 880 pounds, whereas the stainlesssteel versions of the links are rated at1760 pounds. My calculations indicate that the Medi-Magg requires an ejection charge of 3 to 4NIKE-XSNOOPERSTILETTOLaser Cut Tube NotchesRobust Interlocking Engine MountPremium Recovery System IncludedAssembly & Sanding Jigs (Some kits)Industry’s Best Customer ServiceANDROMEDA(518) 827-3107info@qmodeling.comQMODELINGwww.qmodeling.com34 MAY/JUNE 2010 Sport Rocketry
