The weekendincludes athletic games, Spirit Carnival, studentper<strong>for</strong>mances, dinner, entertainment and off-campustrips, and culminates with the crowning of the kingand queen.COMMENCEMENTThe culmination of the student’s journey is celebratedby the <strong>Adelphi</strong> community at Commencement.CSI furnishes in<strong>for</strong>mation and materials to makethis commemoration an enjoyable and memorableexperience.PANTHERTAINMENT BOOTH<strong>Adelphi</strong> encourages students to participate in activitiesboth on and off campus. <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Involvement</strong>WHAT IS CSI?The <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Involvement</strong> (CSI) is the hub ofcampus life at <strong>Adelphi</strong> <strong>University</strong>. The center housesmyriad programs and activities, providing assistance tostudents from the first day of Orientation to the culminationof the <strong>Adelphi</strong> experience at Commencement.To provide the foundation <strong>for</strong> a cocurricular education,students can obtain in<strong>for</strong>mation from CSI <strong>for</strong> the following:• <strong>Campus</strong> life and activities• <strong>Student</strong> leadership services• Greek life and social fellowships• Multicultural affairs• <strong>Adelphi</strong> Opportunity Program• Interfaith <strong>Center</strong>• Transfer student services• Commuter student services• Civic engagement and service programs• New <strong>Student</strong> Orientation• Family Weekend• PantherTainment Booth• CommencementCAMPUS LIFE AND ACTIVITIES<strong>Campus</strong> life is an essential component of a student’scollege experience, and CSI provides the means to getinvolved. More than 80 student clubs and organizationsare available at the <strong>University</strong>, meeting a varietyof interests—from student government to communityservice. Whether commuter or resident, every student isencouraged to become part of the campus communitythrough the support services available from CSI.CSI is located in the Ruth S. Harley <strong>University</strong> <strong>Center</strong>(UC)—a centralized hub <strong>for</strong> student activities.GETTING INVOLVEDGetting involved in campus life enhances the student’scollege experience and provides an opportunity todevelop leadership skills and a chance to bond withfellow classmates. There are more than 80 clubs andorganizations on campus, including academic, social,community service and religious-based clubs, as wellas Greek life and honor societies. If you can’t finda student organization that interests you, there is asimple process <strong>for</strong> starting a new one. Clubs andorganizations have mailboxes in the PantherTainmentBooth or can be contacted through club emailaccounts. The <strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Involvement</strong> providesa centralized location <strong>for</strong> students to learn aboutstudent organizations and upcoming events.In addition to student organizations, there arenumerous student programming events that take placedaily, including novelty vendors and per<strong>for</strong>mers,parties, comedy shows, coffeehouses, lectures, offcampustrips and more. Greek organizations offer an environmentthat enhances the learning experiences available oncampus. They highlight the finest qualities among menand women: scholarship, leadership, a responsibility totheir community and lifelong friendship.Membership in a fraternity, sorority or social fellowshipcan be among the most rewarding collegiateexperiences, and with a diverse array of organizationsto choose from, CSI encourages all students toconsider Greek life.COMMUTER STUDENT SERVICESThrough commuter student services, as well as theCommuter <strong>Student</strong> Organization, Commuter AssistantProgram and Commuter Senators, commuter studentscan learn how to become involved in campus life.Services include maps, transportation timetables, acommuter hotline and off-campus housing resources.For those unplanned circumstances, the office willlend helpful tools, such as ice scrapers, umbrellasand phone chargers.Commuters can relax between classes in the Angelaand Barry Zeman Commuter Lounge in the Ruth S.Harley <strong>University</strong> <strong>Center</strong>, where they have accessto computers, printers, lockers, a big-screen TV andmicrowave ovens. Five additional lounge areas aresituated throughout the campus.TRANSFER STUDENT SERVICESTransfer-specific advising, events and workshopsprovide transfer students the support they needto successfully transition to <strong>Adelphi</strong>. The range ofservices and programs includes Transfer TransitionDay, Transfer Ambassadors, transfer events andtransfer meet-and-greet opportunities, as well as anopportunity to become a member of Tau Sigma, thenational transfer honor society.STUDENT LEADERSHIP SERVICESCSI is committed to offering all <strong>Adelphi</strong> students anopportunity to grow and become leaders. <strong>Adelphi</strong> hasa number of programs, which include the LeadershipCertificate Program, where students and alumni attendvarious workshops to enhance their leadership skillsand career expectations.In addition to other programs that allow students todevelop strong leadership skills, CSI works diligently todevelop opportunities <strong>for</strong> students to gain recognition <strong>for</strong>their leadership involvement. Recognition opportunitiesinclude the Sigma Lambda Honor Society, Who’sWho Among <strong>Student</strong>s in American Universities &Colleges and an opportunity to be acknowledged as<strong>Adelphi</strong>’s <strong>Student</strong> Leader of the Month.CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND SERVICEPROGRAMSCSI offers a wide array of programs <strong>for</strong> studentswho are interested in volunteering and participatingin service projects in the community. Throughcollaboration with community organizations, CSIserves as a resource <strong>for</strong> students who want to helpothers. CSI facilitates programming that providesstudents with opportunities to per<strong>for</strong>m both indirectand direct service.Service initiatives developed by CSI include, but arenot limited to, Relay For <strong>Life</strong>, the Freshman CommunityAction Program, <strong>Adelphi</strong> Gives Back Month, Be theChange Week, blood drives, a mentoring programand alternative winter and spring service trips.MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRSMulticultural Affairs promotes an inclusive andsocially just environment. Programming explores theintersection of social identities, such as race, gender,
