Air guns withsafety nozzlesHow to choose the right air gun3.23.43.5Important factors to consider when choosing an air gunSafety is important!Choose among 6 different model seriesProducts3.63.123.183.243.263.28Air guns – 007 seriesAir guns – 500 seriesAir guns – 2000 seriesAir guns – 750 seriesAir guns – 4000 seriesSpecial gunsAll of Silvent’s safety air guns fully meet thenoise limitation requirements of the EUMachine Directive as well as OSHA’s safetyregulations.3.1

Important considerationswhen choosing an air gunEconomyThe major expense associated with air guns is not thepurchase cost but rather the operating cost for compressedair. The purchase of an air gun with an energy-efficientand effective safety nozzle is always an investment. Ina somewhat longer time perspective, it represents pureprofit to raise the environmental standard and buy aslightly more expensive but safe air gun.Noise levelConventional air guns are normally designed with anopen pipe that generates a high and harmful noiselevel. Silvent’s patented safety nozzles have been developedto reduce the air turbulence that is the primarycause of high noise levels when blowing with compressedair. Silvent safety guns generate just half thesound level of a conventional compressed air gun.Decibels dB(A)Tolerable noiseHarmful noise1101051009590858010 mm openpipe blowingConventionalair gunTolerable noiseSilventsafety gunsThe OSHA gauge,a symbol of qualitySafetyThe OSHA gauge is an important tool for guaranteeingsafety. The air pressure on the downstream side of an airgun nozzle or an open pipe is measured and may not, according to the regulations, exceed 30 psi (210 kPa).If the pressure is higher and the open pipe or air nozzleoutlet is blocked by a hand or other body part, seriousinjury can result when air penetrates the skin and is forcedinto the bloodstream. Silvent safety nozzles are designedso that the outlet cannot be fully blocked and any backpressurethat may result will never exceed 30 psi (210 kPa).3.2

How is the gun to be used?Every workplace is unique. To assure your personalsafety as a user, it is important to choose the right airgun for your particular situation – not too small and nottoo big. A properly dimensioned air gun increases safety, reduces the noise level and saves considerable amountsof costly energy. What functions should the pistol grip provide? Here there are nearly as many answers as there areusers. In principle you should choose a grip with agood valve that allows you to fully control the airflow. This increases the possibility to save air and lower thenoise level. Before making your decision, give somethought to the functions you need and what you expectof the grip. Do you always blow at full force or do youneed a valve that allows you to variably regulate theblowing force? What environments must the materialwithstand and what type of trigger mechanism best suitsyour blowing operation? Regardless of the gun youchoose from our range, rest assured that you will havechosen an ergonomically designed alternative. When manufacturing their cameras Hasselblad usesSilvent’s “microgun” 007-MJ4.The combination of an ergonomic grip and a shorttrigger for one or two fingers automatically providesthe right blowing position without bending the wrist orrisking muscle strain.www.silvent.com3.3

Safety is important!Design of the safety nozzleThe design and size of the nozzle are crucial to achievingthe desired results. If your application requires that youperform a sweeping motion, you should choose a nozzlethat creates a strong, broad air cone. For blowing in aconfined space or holes, you need a nozzle with a smalldiameter in order to efficiently do the work. With theproper nozzle the blowing operation can be performedboth more quickly and more efficiently. Think carefullybefore choosing a nozzle. The correct choice will eliminatethe risk of hearing loss resulting from unnecessarynoise and, at the same time, save costly compressed air.Extension pipes and safety shieldsThe length of the extension pipe is both a practical anda safety matter. By choosing the appropriate length youavoid having your face too close to the blowing operation.Fit all air guns with a suitable safety shield to protectthe hands and face from possible injury. These accessoriesare of course available for all of our air guns.A Silvent 007-L fitted with aplastic safety shieldHere, a Silvent safety gun equipped with an extensionpipe is used in the production of Absolut Vodka bottles.3.4 www.silvent.com

0 0 7S E R I E SFOR THE HIGHEST DEMANDS FOR SAFETYREPLACES AIR GUNS WITHOUT NOZZLESWith blowing pipe diameters 3 - 4 mm1/8”007-LThe 007 grip features a unique valve design with a two-step systemthat reduces both noise levels and energy consumption considerably. The first step, variable position, allows variable adjustment of theblowing force and is generally more than adequate for most typesof work. This generates a noise level of only 75 dB(A) and permitsenergy savings of up to 50%. The gun’s second step, the so called“booster position”, delivers twice the blowing force for the mostdemanding operations. From the maximum variable position, only aslight squeeze of the trigger is needed and the booster position kicks in,instantly doubling the effect. Despite this dramatic increase in blowingforce, the sound level is only half that of conventional air guns. The grip offers two connection possibilities – both top and bottom airsupply connection. From a safety and ergonomic perspective, top feedis the best alternative. Safety valves at the connections eliminate therisk of injury. Should the plug on the connection that is not being usedfor some reason unscrew under pressure, there is no risk involved.BENEFITSNoise reduction– Halves the noise levelAir consumption reduction – 20 - 50%Safety nozzle– Meets OSHA standardsThe 007 safety gun has an ergonomically designed Softgrip handlemade of synthetic rubber that is highly durable and oil resistant. Thematerial insulates well against heat and cold and the handle is easyon both the hand and wrist.SILVENT 007 with a Laval nozzle is the most commonly chosenalternative. With a stainless steel Laval nozzle mounted onto the007 grip, you can handle nearly any blowing application. A Lavalorifice in the center of the nozzle creates a highly concentrated airstream that moves at supersonic speed. Around the Laval hole thereare a number of diverging slots that generate a powerful, quiet andlaminar airflow. The combination provides superior cleaning performanceand optimal utilization of the compressed air. The surroundingfins prevent direct contact between skin and the outlet holes. A central hole in combination with surroundingslots makes the nozzle extremely efficient and quiet.Compared with conventional air guns without a nozzle, a Silventmicronozzle permits you to reduce compressed air consumption byup to 75% and at the same time keep the noise level under 76 dB(A).Patented.Meets noise limitation requirements of the EU Machine Directive.ACCESSORIES• Safety shield, see 500-Z safety gun• Air shield, see 500-Z safety gun• Self-coiling spiral hose, see tab: Accessories• Extension pipe lengths, see 500-Z safety gunDIMENSIONSPRODUCT INFORMATIONORDER NO./MODEL500-MJ4 500-MJ5 500-MJ6ORDER NO./MODELL1mm“L1500-MJ4 500-MJ4-2501024.02AIR CONE PATTERNØD12509.84150(6")136(5.35")ØD2500-MJ4-40040015.75300(12")ØD3105(4.13")500-MJ4 500-MJ4 500-MJ4-600 -800 -1000600 800 100023.62 31.50 39.37DISTANCE450(18")NozzleReplaces open pipeAir consumptionSound levelBlowing forceMax. temp.WeightConnectionNozzle materialmm”Nm 3 /hscfmdB(A)Noz°C°FgIbsBSPNPTMJ4 MJ5 MJ625/6442.4760.93.2-20/+70-4/+1581450.321/4”1/4”-182.53/32105.9791.86.3-20/+70-4/+1581450.321/4”1/4”-1831/8148.2822.58.8-20/+70-4/+1581450.321/4”1/4”-18Stainless steelORDER NO./MODEL500 - MJ4500 - MJ5500 - MJ6D1mm ”35 1.3840 1.5750 1.97D2mm ”65 2.5680 3.1595 3.74D3mm ”100 3.94120 4.72140 5.51Further information in tab: Technical specifications.Max. operating pressure: 1.0 MPa (143 psi)3.14 www.silvent.com

4 0 0 0S E R I E SAIR BAZOOKA WITH CONCENTRATED BLOWING FORCEREPLACE OPEN PIPE OF DIAMETERS:14 - 20 mm5/8” - 3/4”4015-LBENEFITSNoise reduction– 8 - 13 dB(A)Air consumption reduction – 14 - 48 %Safety nozzle– Meets OSHA standardsThe introduction of Silvent 4000 heralds an entirely new conceptwithin blowing technology. Silvent has succeeded in combining highlyconcentrated blowing force with easily controlled valve functionalityand a low sound level. The nozzle has a patented design with aLaval outlet in its center.Surrounding the air hole there is a ring of slots, which creates thelow-turbulence flow pattern required for a low sound level. At thesame time, the energy of the core stream is utilized optimally. The valve function is “power steered” and can be easily controlledwith one hand. Light pressure from the thumb or a finger is sufficient. The rubber insulation on the handle provides a sure grip and, at thesame time, protects the hand against both heat and cold. The valveis controlled with a “dead man’s grip” so that it instantly closes if thegrip is dropped. The SILVENT high-force blowing tool Air Bazooka 4015-L utilizesyour compressed air optimally. The effect is created by surroundinga core of air traveling at supersonic speed with a protective film ofair moving parallel to the central air jet. The central stream of air inthe Silvent 4015-L is generated by a Laval nozzle. The design of thisnozzle converts all of the energy stored in the compressed air intokinetic energy without allowing the air jet to expand laterally after ithas passed through the nozzle. The protective sheath of air aroundthe core stream prevents it from being slowed down by the surroundingair and allows it to be utilized at full effect. The gas flowhinders the creation of turbulence and thereby lowers the sound level. The nozzle is made of stainless steel, which makes it suitable for usein virtually any environment where extra high blowing forces arerequired, e.g. within the paper and manufacturing industries, steelmills and chemical plants.
