To preventthe possibility of injury under these conditions, we recommend thehot water faucet be opened for several minutes at the kitchen sinkbefore you use any electrical appliance that is connected to the hotwater system. If hydrogen is present, there will be an unusualsound such as air escaping through the pipes as hot water begins toflow. Do not smoke or have open flame near the faucet at the timeit is open.Keep clear of the temperature and pressure relief valve dischargeline outlet. The discharge may be hot enough to cause scald injury.The water is under pressure and may splash.18
