iographieschoreographers Verve 07Rafael Bonachela: choreographer (repertory)Born in Barcelona, Spain, Rafael trained at the London Studio Centre and danced withLanonima Imperial before joining Rambert <strong>Dance</strong> Company in 1992. In April 2003, he wasappointed Rambert's Associate Choreographer. In September 2004 Rafael won the first everPlace Prize award for choreography, audience vote award and the New York Bloomberg choiceaward, for his piece E2 7SD.To date, he has choreographed nine works for Rambert dancers,including 21, a multi-media work produced in collaboration with Kylie Minogue's creative team.In 2002, Bonachela's career took an interesting turn when he was commissioned tochoreograph Kylie Minogue's routine at the Brit Awards and he went on to work extensively withMs Minogue, choreographing her award-winning Fever tour, the Top <strong>of</strong> the Pops Awards andthe World Music Awards. Rafael is co-choreographer for Kylie Minogue’s Show Girl world tourthat opened in March 2005 and has also choreographed her two recent music videos for thesingles I Believe In You and Giving You Up.Recent dance commissions include works for: Transitions <strong>Dance</strong> Company, English ChamberOrchestra, <strong>Dance</strong> Works Rotterdam, Hip, Union <strong>Dance</strong> Company, PROBE, GloucestershireYouth <strong>Dance</strong> Company, InToTo and VERVE. He has also created dance and film works for avariety <strong>of</strong> clients including MTV, The Kills, Primal Scream, Jaguar Automobiles, SiemensMobile and Hugo Boss.Kim Brandstrup: choreographer (new commission)Kim studied film at the University <strong>of</strong> Copenhagen and choreography under Nina Fonar<strong>of</strong>f at theLondon <strong>Contemporary</strong> <strong>Dance</strong> <strong>School</strong> before establishing Arc <strong>Dance</strong> Company in 1985. He hascreated over twenty works for Arc including Saints and Shadows (Olivier Award nominee),Hamlet, Crime Fictions, Peer Gynt, Garden <strong>of</strong> Joys and Sorrows and The Return <strong>of</strong> Don Juan,featuring Irek Mukhamedov, Elegy, Brothers and most recently Hans Christian Andersen-TheAnatomy <strong>of</strong> a Storyteller commissioned by the Hans Christian Andersen Foundation 2005 andthe Royal Opera House.Kim's credits also include: Orfeo for London <strong>Contemporary</strong> <strong>Dance</strong> Theatre, winner <strong>of</strong> the 1989Laurence Olivier Award for Most Outstanding Achievement In <strong>Dance</strong>, also performed by Arc<strong>Dance</strong> Company; Sacre Du Printemps (1991) for Geneva Ballet; Benjamin Britten’s Death In
