DVS – passion for perfectionCLIPSTER ® & DCI MasteringEASY, FAST AND SECUREOVERVIEWFor CLIPSTER ® DVS has developed the option of a full DCI set tocreate digital content comfortably in one system following thespecifications of the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI). With theadditional CLIPSTER ® JPEG2000 accelerator board CLIPSTER ® isable to create JPEG2000 12-bit X’Y’Z’ file sequences in real time. All thenecessary DCI steps from DSM, DCDM, CPL over KDM to DCP can becreated in a single box with an easy to use graphical user interface.Authoring DCI content in one box – easy, fast and secureHardware accelerated high-speed JPEG2000 encodingCompatible with all other DCI playersQuality control of a DCP directly in CLIPSTER ®Future-proof for subtitling and other DCI demandsDCIDSM DCDM CPL KDM DCPHD VTRSD/HD/2K/4K Video(dual-link HD-SDI)CLIPSTER ® withD-Cinema PackageDVS-SANSD/HD/2K/4K Data(FireWire ® /USB/Fibre Channel)2K/4K Data(FireWire ® /USB/Fibre Channel)AES/RSA EncryptedJPEG2000 withX509 CertificationFireWire ® /USB DriveDigital Source Master (DSM)Digital Cinema Distribution Master (DCDM)Composition Playlist (CPL)Key Delivery Message (KDM)Digital Cinema Package (DCP)D-Cinema Contentas specified by DCIHardware accelerated JPEG2000 generation on anormal Windows XP with its open NTFS file systemand FC connection to a SANComfortable conforming of a project to a DigitalSource Master (DSM) in every file and video formatConverting a DSM to a Digital Cinema DistributionMaster (DCDM) in TIFF 16 bit X’Y’Z’ in real timeDefining the Composition Playlist (CPL) directly inthe timeline by setting reel markersHigh-speed encoding of JPEG2000 file sequencesin 12 bit X’Y’Z’ up to 2KKey Delivery Message (KDM) by using AES(128 bit) and RSA (2048 bit) encryptionSupport of X509 certificationMXF wrapping into a final and secured DigitalCinema Package (DCP) with JPC - X’Y’Z’ 12-bit filesAll DCI formats are supportedCopyright © 2008, all contents by DVS Digital Video System AG. CLIPSTER ® & DCIMASTERINGea sy, fast and secureDCDMDIGITAL CINEMA DISTRIBUTION MASTERThe powerful conforming feature of CLIPSTER ® creates high-resolutionprojects out of digital film data. Normally 2K or 4K DPX filesequences will be used for this. With such a project in the timelineyou can easily create a DCDM from it by generating 2K or 4K TIFF16-bit X’Y’Z’ files. In CLIPSTER ® this will be performed in real time.CLIPSTER ® DCI MASTERINGConforming will create a DSM (Digital Source Master)Each project can be converted into a DCDM2K/4K TIFF 16-bit X’Y’Z’ files can be created in real timeJPEG20 0 0 ACCELERATORHIGH-SPEED ENCODINGWith CLIPSTER ® and its DCI option it is possible to encode to JPEG2000formats specified by the DCI like 2048 x 858 or 1998 x 1080 in 12 bitX’Y’Z’. Usually JPEG2000 file sequences are using the file extensionJPC or JP2. JPC files contain the code stream (image) only while JP2files possess additional metadata header information. With an efficientmaximum quality variable bit rate (VBR) the TIFF 16-bit files of theDCDM will be encoded with a maximum of 250 Mb/s in high speed byusing a special hardware accelerator board designed by DVS.High-speed encoding in JPC and JP2 file sequencesDCI format support in 12 bit X’Y’Z’ 4:4:4 and 4:2:2Maximum quality variable bit rate up to 250 Mb/sSupport of constant quality variable bit rate up to 250 Mb/sCPLCOMPOSITION PL AYLISTCLIPSTER ® precisely follows the DCI specifications, enablingto create digital content divided into reels. Each DCI reel will bean MXF file of its own in the DCP. To make sure that all reels ofthe digital movie will be displayed in the correct sequence in thetheater a Composition Playlist will take care of that. The CPL is anadditional XML file which will be created in CLIPSTER ® during thewrapping of the JPEG2000 files into MXF files.Define each DCI reel directly in the timeline of theDCDM with a single clickCLIPSTER DCI reel markers can be generatedautomatically in the timelineThe CPL will be generated as an XML following thespecification of the DCICopyright © 2008, all contents by DVS Digital Video System AG. CLIPSTER ® & DCIMASTERINGea sy, fast and secureCLIPSTER ® DCI MASTERINGKDMKE Y DELIVERY MESSAGEThe key handling as described by the DCI typically assumes that acontent provider creates, encrypts and signs the material. In additionto the encrypted video and audio a so-called KDM is created. Amongother information the KDM holds the key to decrypt the material, but this key itself is encrypted. This encrypted key can be decryptedonly by the recipient. Additionally the KDM holds a signature to provethe validity of the package. The quality of the encrypted and signedmaterial and the KDM can be directly controlled on CLIPSTER ® . Afterthat, the material will be sent to the cinema. The cinema player verifiesthe signature, decrypts and then plays out the material.Creation of single or multiple KDMs for the same materialX509 certificates with RSA keys to encrypt the AES key in the KDMKDMs will be signed with a programmable certificateQuality control of the final DCPReal-time play-out of encrypted and compressed 2K materialDCPDIGITAL CINEMA PACK AGEThe final step for creating digital content as specified by the DCI willbe the wrapping of all encrypted JPEG2000 files into MXF files. EachDCI reel will have its own MXF file. Together with the audio wave files, the CPL and the KDM a full DCP is ready to be delivered. This DCP canbe played back on every D-Cinema player following the specificationof the DCI.Public keys ofrecipientsKDM generationInput filesDPX, TIFF, BMP etc.Project Conforminginto the timelineto a DSMCreate a DCDM inreal time(TIFF 16 bit X’Y’Z’)High speed encodingto JPG2000 in 12 bitX’Y’Z’Mark the DCI reelsdirectly in the timelineMXF wrapping andAES encryptionHigh-speed wrapping of secured encrypted JPEG2000files into MXF filesGenerating audio wave files per each DCI reelThe CPL will be generated as an XML following thespecification of the DCIThe whole DCP can be quality controlled on the CLIPSTER ®which generated the DCPGenerate Packing Lists and Asset MapsDCP readyto be delivered(MXF files, KDM and CPL)SPECIFIC ATIONSDCIDigital Source Master (DSM) creation on the timelineDigital Cinema Distribution Master (DCDM) in TIFF 16 bit X’Y’Z’Definition of the Composition Playlist (CPL) directly on the timelineJPEG2000 encoding and decoding in real time up to 2KMax. quality VBR and constant quality support up to250 Mb/sKey Delivery Message (KDM) by using AES (128 bit) andRSA (2048 bit) encryptionEncryption in SHA1 and SHA256Support of X509 certificationMXF wrapping into a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) withJPEG2000 X’Y’Z’ 12 bitDCI Formats:2K /24/48 fps4K /24 fps2048 x 858 (2.39) 4096 x 1716 (2.39)1998 x 1080 (1.85) 3996 x 2160 (1.85)DCDM Container:2048 x 1080@24/48 fps and4096 x 2160@24 fpsCopyright © 2008, all contents by DVS Digital Video System AG.
