out and stop messing about with other people and their
lands? The US govt seem to have the mentality of a
toddler who's never been told no, and who's turned into a
tantrum-prone bully who could now seriously do with a
solid spanking and a time-out, for being so seriously
unsociable...haha, I wish it could be so simple...
Land grabs for corporations are evil. Plantation agriculture
CAUSES hunger. Look at Ireland in 1845. Look at India
under the British. Look at Madagascar, ruined in an effort
to resist this fate. What are you thinking?
world as a country of famine, food shortages, endemic
hunger, and chronic dependency on foreign aid. Despite
receiving billions of dollars in aid, Ethiopians remain
among the poorest in the world. Since early 2008, the
Ethiopian government has embarked on a process to
award millions of hectares (ha) of land to foreign and
national agricultural investors. Our research shows that at
least 3,619,509 ha of land have been transferred to
investors, although the actual number may be higher. The
Ethiopian government claims that these investments will
allow for much needed foreign currency to enter into the
economy and will contribute to long-term food security
through the transfer of technology to small-scale farmers.
