Steve Wright quickly found the flag so we couldstart.Moment:Louie Capuano led us in a call for support to our troopsand a short invocation.Visitors:Phil Talamantes read the names <strong>of</strong> various and manyvisiting Rotarians.Guests:Janet Codding brought Susan Foster. Also introducedwas Dave from the County <strong>of</strong> Sonoma. Chris Parr had aguest - Victoria Shipley.Jim Benoit introduced two Rotaract members: Alicia &Adriana. Alicia will be the new incoming President <strong>of</strong> the<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Rosa</strong> Rotaract <strong>Club</strong>.S.O.S. had a table full <strong>of</strong> guest students.John Meislahn brought Jose Aringoli our Exchangestudent from Argentina and the new exchangestudent living at his house as well - Gustavo Mercurifrom Brazil. Gustavo & Jose posed for today’sphotographer Jim Valinoti.

Chris did mention it wasPDG John Wither’s 80 th bday coming up.RaffleDave Wattell pulled the wrong marble and Ginny had the wine ticket but toldeveryone that it was Bob Reinking’s ticket not hers.Ed Burr then had an auction <strong>of</strong>items left over from the CrabFeed. With Tarina’s help we gotrid <strong>of</strong> the last items and madesome money to boot.Winningbidderswere:Ron Street Ginny Pitts Jack Bill

He toldus the kids problems need tobe corrected at the beginningand with the home life.Counseling is under-fundednow and this is why SOS is soimportant.Dr. Doolittle (the humor bone is screaming for a one linerhere but I’ll refrain – Ed ☺ ) was brought up to thank usfor the support we <strong>of</strong>fer and commend the program goingon for the last 13 years. This mentoring <strong>of</strong>fers hope tostudents they might not have had before.Maurice Travis then spoke as one <strong>of</strong> counselors workingat McBride School. He dealt with similar issues when hewas growing up so can relate well to the kids. He thenintroduced and had a number <strong>of</strong> students get up to speakto the group on their experiences with SOS.We then had time left over so Chris Parr called on Alicia from Rotaract to discusstheir fundraising efforts over the last 12 months. And they are also looking for newmembers.PDG Mike Merrill was fresh back from Vietnam and said there are greaterpossibilities for <strong>Rotary</strong> there. And acknowledged his wife-Maureen’s new businessventure mentioned in the newspaper.Chris then went back to Withers to ask what one does at 80 years old. Apparentlyyou get to go to dinner. Janet then led us all in singing Happy Birthday to John.Adjourned.
