<strong>Photography</strong> <strong>Group</strong> (Adults)This group will be providing 8 people with learning disabilities with the opportunity tolearn how to take photographs, make simple digital edits and how to print a photo andprepare it <strong>for</strong> presentation. Each term will focus on a different theme e.g. animals, portraits,movement or landscapes.The group will also visit galleries and have homework between sessions. The group willthen hold an exhibition of their work and some of the best photos will be used in the<strong>Society</strong> calendar.Location:Open Hours:Various locations including: 16A CroxleyRoad, LDN Living Drop-In on Harrow Road,Paddington Arts and other mainstreamvenues.Wednesday afternoons 2.30pm - 5.00pmDuring term time only


What the <strong>Photography</strong> <strong>Group</strong> doesFor 8 people with learning disabilities who want to learn how to take photos, how to makesimple edits to digital photos and how to print and present a photo.The group will run term time only and be facilitated by a LDN Living Worker a SessionalSupport Worker and a Volunteer. Each half term will focus on a different theme such asportraits, landscapes, water, buildings, movement, animals, etc. The group will visitphotography galleries and look at other photographers work to understand different stylesand techniques. The group will also use the session to go out and take photos with directsupervision and support. Each group member will use a digital compact camera to take theirphotos and will be expected to take additional photos as “homework” between sessions.Photos will be downloaded and edited using simple editing software such as Picasso sothat each group member learns how to crop their own photos and make basic colouradjustments. The group will hold its own exhibition at the end of the course ensuring thatthe focus throughout the year is on each person developing their own portfolio ready <strong>for</strong>public viewing. There would also be an annual competition, with the top 13 photos beingused to produce the <strong>Westminster</strong> <strong>Society</strong>’s annual calendar.There will be an opportunity <strong>for</strong> the group members to attend a subsidised short breakduring the holiday periods to enable other photographic themes to be explored such ascoasts, mountains, etc. We would aim to develop links and input from local colleges andstudents as well as seek sponsorship from relevant companies.What does the group aim to achieve?• Introduction to art and media• Aid the development of personcentred plan interests• Development of photography skills• Increase self-confidence

What is LDN Living?This session is just one of the many projects that take place at LDN Living which is runby The <strong>Westminster</strong> <strong>Society</strong>. This service is a learning disability network <strong>for</strong> London andprovides a range of exciting group sessions and varied drop-in activities, as well as one-toonesupport.LDN Living has been designed to ensure a basic level of support <strong>for</strong> vulnerable adults withlearning disabilities who live independently and recieve little or no support from otheragencies.
