8why we give“The capital campaign for the new poolseveral years ago really changed the way thatour family thought about our giving. Whenthe YWCA started raising money for the pool,they looked for a few families to jump startthe campaign with substantial leadershipgifts. The amount was far greater than anygift we had ever made, but the vision for theprogram was so compelling. A few largercontributions were clearly essential, and weknew that we were fortunate to be able toconsider making one. We took a deep breathand wrote a big check, and a few monthslater wrote another one. We found such tremendoussatisfaction in seeing the impact ofwhat the YWCA community achieved!
