Assessing Suicidal RiskSpecific Strategies:• Assess level of SI• Do not minimize/dismiss lethality of attempt or patients’stressors, feelings• Do not attempt to “talk pt. out of it”• Avoid backing suicidal pt. “into a corner”• Listen in a nonjudgmental way, avoid offering “advice”• Check with pt. before allowing visitors, phone calls• ?
