Highway Tanks and Tube Trailers Exemption(Ref. CGSB 43.147-2005)If…Highway tank with:1. Class 3, 8 or 9 only,2. Tank and any compartment is inresidue state with 5% or less volume,3. Highway tank is marked orconstructed under CAN.CSA-B621, orCAN/CSA-B620,4. secured <strong>to</strong> the railway vehicle underguidance from AAR Open Top Rules,5. tank trailer involved, must be secured<strong>to</strong> a hitch trailer(verify king pin islocked),6. trac<strong>to</strong>r trailer is transported with atrac<strong>to</strong>r, trac<strong>to</strong>r must be on separaterailway vehicle,7. secured and contained before transportby competent inspec<strong>to</strong>rs,8. not next <strong>to</strong> a placarded railcar duringtransport,9. separated by 5 cars from locomotiveor is located <strong>to</strong> the rear of train.Then…• May be transported on railway vehiclesif the destination is remote and notaccessible by road.1. NOTE: Tube trailers must only beused for Class 2.1 or 2.2 dangerousgoods, tubes must be maintained inaccordance with CAN/CSA- B340.2. NOTE: Restrictions in column oneapplying <strong>to</strong> tube trailers are item 6,7, 8 (capping not applicable) and 9.3.
