These efforts have beensuccessful in wiping out neonatal tetanus and death frommeasles in the Arun area. A local nursing school and amedical school in Medan use the clinic as training facilitiesfor student nurses and paediatric residents.In other local projects, Mobil has drilled water wells,built and repaired roads and bridges, and assisted in theconstruction of schools and mosques.Mobil is deeply involved in the support of Indonesianeducational, environmental and cultural programmes; MOIworks closely with Indonesian universities and otherinstitutions of higher education to provide educationalassistance and scholarships, and has established scholarshipprogrammes for fourth-year professional students in sixIndonesian universities. The company has also assisted inestablishing a secretarial school, where local women havedeveloped skills enabling them to join the work force.MOI supports one of the Indonesian governmentprogrammes on Human Resources Development bycontinuously assisting two major universities.
