RABBIT EXCLUSION ANDHYDROLOGYPrevious sections have shown that the rabbit controlstrategy was successful in controlling rabbit activity,and consequently allowing the vegetation toregenerate. It would be valuable for managementpurposes to know if there has been a detectablechange in run-off associated with this rabbitexclusion. The north face of the White Elephant Hillis of particular interest, because it is themost degraded part of the landscape. The estimationof run-off from the north face is described in section4.1. A simple water balance model is applied to thenorth face in section 4.2 to test for changes in run-off.Findings are presented in section 4.3.4.1 Estimation of surface run-off from thenorth face of the White Elephant HillThe stream gauge in the main catchment (figure 1)measures combined drainage from the north face ofthe White Elephant Hill and from eroded andvegetated areas.
