Protect the downstream pipingsystem and the regulator’s lowpressure chambers againstoverpressurization due to possibleregulator malfunction or failureto achieve complete lock up.The allowable outlet pressure isthe lowest of the maximumpressures permitted by federalcodes, state codes, SensusMetering Systems RDS-1498,or other applicable standards.The method of protection canbe a relief valve, monitor regulator,shutoff device, or similarmechanism.Caution: It is the user’s responsibility to assure that all residential service regulator ventsand/or vent lines exhaust to a non-hazardous location away from any potentialsources of ignition.
