ENVIRONMENTALOUTCOMESLandscape: The Link will result in aunique landscape and interesting publicareas, incorporating street furniture,public art and sculptures that celebrateWestern Australia.Density: Increased housing density close tothe city will provide the opportunityfor people to live close to employment,retail shops, services, social facilities andleisure activities which will reduce car tripsand associated pollution.Amenity: The Link will improve thevisual elements of the area considerablywith innovative architecturally designedbuildings, use of public art and attractivelandscaping.Noise: The Link will reduce noise from therailway, however increased populationdensity will slightly increase inner citynoise. Residential developments have beenplaced away from areas that will have highlevels of noise (particularly at night), andappropriate measures to reduce potentialimpacts of noise will be addressed in theDesign Guidelines and incorporated at thetime of construction.Public transport: The developmentwill provide improved public transportinfrastructure and introduce new residents,workers, visitors and special event crowds,which will result in a significant increase intrain and bus usage. The Link will supportefficient resource use by capitalising ondirect access to major transit hubs.38 39
