Roe Street -View west from nearWilliam Street.ROE STREETALONG THE NORTHERN EDGE OF THELINK, ROE STREET WILL EXPERIENCEA MAJOR TRANSFORMATION.Roe Street will be a cosmopolitan versionof Hay Street in the west end and willbe both an important counterpointand support to the new WellingtonStreet. Being at the cusp of the link toNorthbridge, the street will become anattraction for people seeking a casual,yet vibrant, street scene. A key focus forthe renewal of Roe Street is the reducedemphasis on simply trying to move carsquickly from one end of Northbridge tothe other. Cyclists and pedestrians willbe able to enjoy friendly, safe movementalong wide footpaths and cycle paths linedby trees and benches. With an opportunityto consider height above 25 storeys, thebuilding will provide a defining senseof scale and importance for the area,with its contrasting height ultimatelycomplementing the lower scale surroundingbuildings, such as the train station.
