This year’schampionship saw 340 athletes (166 women and174 men)from 75 schools compete in Collingwood. They did notdisappoint as they tackled the challenging slalom and giantslalom courses at Blue Mountain.The organizing committee would like to thank everyonewho made the 2008 Alpine Skiing Championshipssuccessful. The championship was packedwith close individual races, exciting relays and loads of fun.Congratulations and thank you to the championshipconvenor Karl Giesbrecht and his entire volunteercommittee comprised of athletes, teachers and volunteersfrom NOSAA, who put forth a tremendous amount oftime and effort making this championship a success. Thecommunity support and team of organizers made this eventtop notch.The OFSAA Leadership in School Sport Award waspresented to Angus Doughty, a teacher-coach fromMayfield Secondary School who has dedicated his careerto building the Mayfield team and to the success of hisstudent athletes.
