<strong>Board</strong> of Directors’ <strong>Meeting</strong> <strong>Minutes</strong>Tuesday, February 7, 2012Page FiveThe Teacher/Principal Evaluation Pilot (TPEP) is being pushed by various organizations.The argument is that TPEP is a move in the right direction but districts must proceedcautiously. For example, a process to evaluate teachers based on student performancehas yet to be identified.Representative Probst identified levy equalization as a “political football” and urgeddistrict constituents to voice their concerns to their legislators. Superintendent Deedercommented that Southwest Washington has a lot to lose and that <strong>Evergreen</strong> is the thirdlargest receiver of levy equalization funds in the state.Regarding possible revenue sources/taxes, much more discussion will be taking place inthe legislature.Ms. Bradford stated that she’d attended a Chamber of Commerce “Lunch with Legislators”roundtable session earlier today. Pro-business candidates for the legislature were inattendance, and the tone of the roundtable was generally pro-education.IX.BOARD COMMENTSNo <strong>Board</strong> comments were presented.X. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMSNo future agenda items were presented.XI.CITIZEN COMMENTSJenna Kitamura addressed the <strong>Board</strong> regarding Early Childhood Special Education Services.Ms. Kitamura was invited to attend the <strong>Board</strong>’s workshop following this evening’s regularmeeting, since a topic on the agenda is an Early Childhood Center Update.XII.RECESSMs. Skelton stated that Director Michael Parsons did not arrive in time for this evening’sregular meeting. Ms. Bradford moved, seconded by Mr. Yuzuriha, to excuse Mr. Parsons’absence. The motion carried unanimously.The regular meeting was recessed at 6:25 p.m. for the signing of documents. Ms. Skeltonstated that the <strong>Board</strong> would meet in a workshop session in the Green Complex ConferenceRoom beginning at approximately 6:45 p.m. She reviewed the topics to be discussed at theworkshop and noted that members of the audience were welcome to attend. She alsonoted that a closed executive session to review the applications for the Director District #1School <strong>Board</strong> vacancy would follow the workshop.XIII.
