Students arerequired to review this material be<strong>for</strong>e coming to class, where time will be devoted to solving exercisesbased on the posted material.Grading SchemeParticipation in Online Discussion Forums: 5%Midterm Exam: 35%Final Exam: 60%<strong>Course</strong> grade: 5% PARTICIPATION IN DISCUSSION FORUMS +MAXIMUM OF [{35% MIDTERM + 60% FINAL} OR {95% FINAL}]No make-up midterm exam will be <strong>of</strong>fered. Students who miss the midterm will have the weight <strong>of</strong> themissed test transferred to the final exam. Students who fare better on the final exam than the midterm willhave the weight <strong>of</strong> the midterm transferred to the final exam.The course instructor reserves the right to set a more favorable grading scheme <strong>for</strong> students who haveexceptional per<strong>for</strong>mance on the final exam. A student’s final course grade is not necessarily confined to acompilation <strong>of</strong> marks earned on individual course components. Final course grades may be adjusted tocon<strong>for</strong>m to Program or Faculty grades distribution pr<strong>of</strong>iles. The grading scheme <strong>for</strong> the course con<strong>for</strong>msto the 9-point grading system used in undergraduate programs at <strong>York</strong> (e.g., A+ = 9, A = 8, B+ - 7, C+ =5, etc.).Midterms and FinalThe level <strong>of</strong> difficulty is expected to be much higher on the final exam than on the midterm.
