A Word from theHead <strong>of</strong> <strong>School</strong>CommencementOur school’s mission is to inspire and prepareour students to achieve personal and academicexcellence.<strong>The</strong> class <strong>of</strong> <strong>2013</strong> has raised the bar on thisaspiration in so many ways. Let me share with you belowsome highlights from this outstanding group <strong>of</strong> students:Thank You, Lis Seeley<strong>The</strong> moment had a specialmeaning on Saturday,June 15 as Board <strong>of</strong> TrusteePresident Lis Seeley addressedthe Class <strong>of</strong> <strong>2013</strong>.After seven years <strong>of</strong> serviceon the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees, six<strong>of</strong> which as President, she isstepping down.Lis Seeley will go down in ASPhistory as a magnificent Chairin a challenging and definingperiod for our school. An example<strong>of</strong> her leadership and drive isthe fact that it is her signature onthe deed <strong>of</strong> sale for this campus,purchased from the French Stateon December 14, 2011.We owe Lis our gratitude fortireless devotion and consummateskill in both managing andleading the Board <strong>of</strong> Trusteesand ASP during a period <strong>of</strong>momentous change. <strong>The</strong> 104 members <strong>of</strong> the classcome from 31 countries. 27 <strong>of</strong> them have siblings who arealso ASP graduates. 102 <strong>of</strong> the 104 students have beenaccepted and are matriculatingto a college or university destination,with the remaining two leavingfor mandatory military service priorto taking their next academic step. 24 graduates are AdvancedPlacement Scholar candidates. Overall 91% <strong>of</strong> these graduateshave participated in IB/AP externalexaminations. Just shy <strong>of</strong> 40% <strong>of</strong> InternationalBaccalaureate diploma students arealso participating in the bilingualIB diploma. This year’s graduating class hasobtained an extraordinaryuniversity admissions standing witha 48% acceptance rate into the mostcompetitive colleges in America.16% <strong>of</strong> the class have been admittedto competitive Colleges andUniversities in the United Kingdomand Europe.10% <strong>of</strong> the class are attendingCanadian universities.College CHOICE is a criticalindicator as we prepare our studentsfor their next academic challenge. 98% <strong>of</strong> this year’s graduatingclass received acceptance fromat least one <strong>of</strong> their personal topthree university choices.<strong>The</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> our studentpublications and devotion tothe written word are hallmarks<strong>of</strong> this class as well.<strong>The</strong>re is overflowing talent,keen academic interest and alsoa quest for the wholeness <strong>of</strong>learning. 27% are going to Science,Technology and Engineeringprograms worldwide, with an evensplit between men and women. 23% are going to Business schoolsworldwide. 29% were admitted to SocialScience and Humanities programs. 98% <strong>of</strong> this graduating classcompeted on sports teams,Model United Nations and serviceorganizations.My heartfelt congratulationsto each and every graduate.You have now become alumni<strong>of</strong> ASP bringing honor to yourfamily, to our ASP communityand to your fellow ASP students.We have every reason to admireyou and your achievements.Now be good to your word, yourwork, yourself and your friends.Fondly,Mark E.
