So that there may be no division in thebody, but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it.You may know <strong>of</strong> someone who has a crisis in their life at the present time; such as loss <strong>of</strong> income or job, unplannedpregnancy, victim <strong>of</strong> domestic violence, loss <strong>of</strong> loved one, an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Many timesthese situations trap us in an endless cycle <strong>of</strong> poverty that can lead to self-destruction and weakening <strong>of</strong> the body<strong>of</strong> Christ.Shining Light is a <strong>Christi</strong>an-based non-pr<strong>of</strong>it that recently moved to the Pastoral Center at St. Mary’s in WestChicago. We want to help our brothers and sisters in Christ that are suffering to rise above these crisis situationsand become self-reliant contributing members <strong>of</strong> society. We accomplish this by providing mentoring, supportgroups, educational classes and referrals to other agencies that can help. One <strong>of</strong> our goals is to build strong families,which consequently can foster strong children who will be less likely to live in poverty and experience health,academic, and behavioral problems. We <strong>of</strong>fer groups and classes for teens and adults, during the day and in theevening. We also have partnerships with area businesses to provide job training. As an incentive to stay in ourprogram and take classes, we allow the clients to “shop” in our store. We are currently in desperate need <strong>of</strong> diapersand formula. The proceeds <strong>of</strong> thisevent will help support the life-saving work <strong>of</strong>Woman’s Choice Services, a <strong>Catholic</strong> pregnancycenter located in Joliet & Lombard. Pleasereturn bottles to the parish by the weekend <strong>of</strong>May 4 th & 5th. This fundraiser is a great wayfor each member <strong>of</strong> the family to help in buildinga Culture <strong>of</strong> Life.
