STASSINU STANTEC LIMITED PARTNERSHIP<strong>2011</strong> SURVEY FOR GOLDEN EAGLE AND BALD EAGLE NEST ACTIVITY IN<strong>CYA</strong> 732 AND <strong>CYA</strong> 733locations <strong>and</strong> identified only a s<strong>in</strong>gle site as active. <strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Eagle</strong> tend to be limited to fewlocations <strong>in</strong> the Study Area with relatively low annual activity (Jacques Whit<strong>for</strong>d 2008). Of the 18<strong>Golden</strong> <strong>Eagle</strong> nests identified <strong>for</strong> the <strong>2011</strong> survey, three were active (16.7%).<strong>Bald</strong> <strong>Eagle</strong> are more common <strong>in</strong> the Study Area, although their distribution is discont<strong>in</strong>uous. Interms of recent surveys, 11 of 43 (25.6%) were active <strong>in</strong> 2008 (Jacques Whit<strong>for</strong>d 2008), four of38 (10.5%) were active <strong>in</strong> 2009 (Jacques Whit<strong>for</strong>d Stantec Limited 2009), 15 of 45 (33.3%) wereactive <strong>in</strong> 2010 (Stass<strong>in</strong>u Stantec 2010). The <strong>2011</strong> survey of 57 nests resulted <strong>in</strong> 11 active nests(19.3%).There were twenty-two other species of wildlife observed dur<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>2011</strong> surveys: sevenmammal species <strong>and</strong> fifteen species of avifauna, as well as one unidentified raptor.
