Angus Community Safety and Antisocial Behaviour Strategy 2009-12 | 21The Way AheadA Structured Business ApproachThe Angus Community Safety Partnership recentlyaccepted Scottish Government recommendations byadopting the principles of the National IntelligenceModel (NIM) in its delivery of services in respect tocommunity safety and antisocial behaviour. Apolicing model adopted in 2000 by the Associationof Chief Police Officers, the National IntelligenceModel provides a structured process for theidentification of priorities through analysis ofinformation and intelligence, followed by thetargeting of resources to address these issues.In line with the principles of the Model, the AngusCommunity Safety Partnership now completes anannual strategic assessment that sets the prioritiesfor the forthcoming year.The Strategic AssessmentThe Strategic Assessment seeks to identify the keylocal community safety and antisocial behaviourissues in Angus and uses the framework of PRICE(Prevention, Rehibilitation, Information,Communication and Enforcement).antisocial behaviour problems in Angus areexamined by the Antisocial Behaviour Tasking andCoordinating Group. Aseries of consultation exercises were carried outand the following issues were highlighted asbeing of most concern to our communities:• Antisocial Behaviour• Drugs & Alcohol• Public Protection & Safety• Road Safety• Terrorism & Community TensionsCommunity Safety SurveyIn 2009, a second survey was commissioned bythe Angus Community Safety Partnership toexamine how safe residents feel in theircommunity and how antisocial behaviourproblems are affecting their lives. Returns fromthis survey will help the partnership to understandthe effectiveness of services that are beingprovided in these areas, and assist in identifyingcommunity issues and areas where resourcesshould be targeted.
