PROGRAM REVIEWA system for evaluating the operation of the Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Program must be in place. Thepurpose of a <strong>program</strong> review is to determine <strong>and</strong> implement changes needed to improve workplace<strong>health</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>safety</strong>. The <strong>program</strong> review assesses the effectiveness of the elements of the Health <strong>and</strong>Safety Program.Unit RequirementsThe Unit is to conduct a review of its Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Program on an annual basis.The purposes of these reviews are to:1. Identify the strengths of the Unit's Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Program2. Identify areas of non-compliance (with WorkSafeBC <strong>and</strong> UBC requirements)3. Identify where the <strong>program</strong> could be further improved so as to achieve higher levels of <strong>health</strong>,<strong>safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> compliance4. Assist the Unit in reducing accidents <strong>and</strong> claims costs.The unit’s Safety Program Administrator (SPA) <strong>and</strong> members of the Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Committee areresponsible for conducting these reviews in accordance with established <strong>program</strong> review procedures,using the Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Program Review document.A written report is presented to the Unit Head <strong>and</strong> all levels of management upon completion of thereview. Management then authorizes <strong>and</strong> implements measures to improve the Unit Health <strong>and</strong>Safety Program. The report is posted <strong>and</strong> available to all employees.Management takes action on the evaluation report by:1. Developing an action plan2. Prioritizing recommendations3. Assigning accountability4. Conducting a follow upAll <strong>program</strong> review activities are documented to meet due diligence requirements.References1.
