The LBB 3500/15 ExtendedCCU carries out core control functions, and this is complementedby the conference management facilities availableto the operator via the appropriate application software. The use of the PC and the relevant software modulesallows electronic identification and access control forcontributing delegates, via a card reader with or withoutPIN code. The chip-cards are encoded usingthe Chip-Card Encoder software module and theLBB 3557 Chip-Card Encoder. An infra-red transmission system is used to distributethe interpretation languages to the seated non-contributingdelegates. The Infra-Red Transmitter andstrategically-located infra-red radiators are used to distributethe available languages throughout the conferencevenue. Each non-contributing delegate is equippedwith an infra-red receiver and headphones, and canselect the language of his/her choice by means of achannel selection facility on the receiver. The software modules running on the system PC wouldtypically include the following:• Startup - essential in all DCN software drivenapplications• System Installation - to provide configuration informationfor other software modules• Microphone Management or Synoptic MicrophoneControl - to configure and control delegate microphonestatus and determine microphone operatingmode. Both give on-screen status• Delegate Database - to compile a data- base on conferenceparticipants and specify conference-relatedparameters such as access requirements• Multi Voting - to allow different kinds of votingincluding parliamentary voting• Simultaneous Interpretation - to provide up to15 simultaneous interpretations of the floor language• Attendance Registration - to provide electronic accesscontrol and a means of delegate registration• Message Distribution - to allow thegeneration of messages to individuals or groups• ID-Card Encoder
