Kinross Gold Corporation25 York Street 17th FloorToronto, ON, Canada M5J 2V5Notes to Drill ResultsTasiast Drill HolesHole identifiers ending with suffix DD are diamond drill core holes (HQ diameter), suffix RC are reverse circulation(RC) holes and suffix RD are holes with a RC pre-collar and a diamond core tail (HQ diameter). Holes with “A” or“B” prefixing DD or RD are diamond core re-drills of the original hole where significant deviation would haveresulted in that hole missing the intended target. West Branch holes were angled to the west in order to crossmineralization at an angle as close as possible to a perpendicular intersection. Mineralization at Tasiast generallydips 50° to 60° east. Results provided for Tasiast include all new exploration step-out holes for which assay results were available atthe time of preparation of this news release, and completed since Kinross’ previous disclosure of drill hole resultsin the report on 2011 second quarter results. The table excludes the results of infill drill holes which will beincorporated in Kinross’ 2011 year-end updated estimate of mineral reserves and mineral resources. Assayresults provided for the C67 target include all drill holes completed since Kinross’ March 28, 2011 news releaseon the exploration drilling campaign at Tasiast.Composite assay intervals reported for exploration (non-resource) drilling at Tasiast are calculated by taking aweighted average of all gold fire assay values equal to or above 0.3 g/t gold. No more than six consecutivemetres of internal waste (

Kinross Gold Corporation25 York Street 17th FloorToronto, ON, Canada M5J 2V5mineralization are not clearly evident in the information collected to date. Further infill drilling is ongoing to betterunderstand the controls on distribution of gold and silver grades.Gold equivalent ounces include silver ounces converted to a Au Eq. based on the average spot market prices forthe commodities for a specified quarterly period assuming 100% gold and silver recoveries. The gold equivalentcalculation applied to silver assayed in the Pompeya results was approximately 44:1 based on the ratio for thethird quarter of 2011 (see note “b” in the financial results table on page 2 of this news release).Sampling, analytical and QAQC methodology and protocolsSamples were collected in two meter intervals for both diamond core and RC drilling along the entire length of thedrill hole. RC samples were collected in a large plastic sample bag that was positioned below the cyclone spigot, and then shipped directly to the lab. Core samples were sawed in half lengthwise, with half placed in a plasticsample bag and sent to the lab, with the remaining half stored on site in core boxes.QAQC standards, duplicates and blanks were inserted into the sample stream according to best practicestandards. Seven different standards were used, with all of them certified for gold (Au) and copper (Cu), andcertified values for silver (Ag) in three of the seven standards. Field duplicates consisted of quarter sawn core, half remaining from the initial split from the original sample. All samples were sent to Laboratory Geoanalitica Limitada in Coquimbo, Chile, an ISO 9002 certified laboratory.Gold and silver values were obtained through a 30g fire assay and atomic absorption (AA) finish. Lower detectionlimits were 0.01 g/t for gold, and 0.5 g/t for silver. The technical information about the Company’s drilling and exploration activities at La Coipa contained in thisnews release has been prepared under the supervision of Dr. Glen Masterman, an officer with the Company whois a “qualified person” within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101. The drill hole data base including collar, survey, geology and assay information were reviewed by the “qualified person” and the composite assayinformation independently calculated and verified for accuracy of reporting. Assay certificates for the informationdisclosed in this news release were verified by the site Chief Geologist but not by Dr. Masterman as the “qualifiedperson”.p. 5 www.kinross.com
