04 LUMSContribunalA plaque unveiling ceremony was held at LUMS on January 19,2012 to commemorate the inauguration of the Millat TractorsAuditorium at the School of Science and Engineering.The Chairman of the Millat Group of Companies, Mr. Sikandar M.Khan, along with Mr. Sohail Bashir Rana, Mr. Latif Khalid Hashmiand Mr. Irfan Aqueel were present at the occasion. They werejoined by Syed Babar Ali, Pro Chancellor, LUMS; Dr. Adil Najam,Vice Chancellor, LUMS; Dr. Sohail Qureshi, Dean, SSE and theLUMS Fundraising team. Speaking at the occasion, Syed BabarAli acknowledged the generous contribution of the Millat Group tothe University. He also appreciated Mr. Sikandar Khan for comingforward to support LUMS of his own desire instead of being approachedby Syed Babar Ali. Mr. Khan in turn thanked LUMS andSyed Babar Ali for providing his company and him with the opporthosewho came forward to support lumsBank Al-Habib LimitedBank Al-Habib has pledged PKR 50 million for the National OutreachProgramme (NOP). Mr. Abbas D. Habib, Chief Executive of Bank Al-Habib and Syed Babar Ali, Pro Chancellor LUMS, signed the MoU inKarachi. 10 NOP scholars will be financed through this gift. Recipientsof these scholarships will be called Rashid D. Habib Scholars.Younus Amin Scholarship FundMr. Younus Amin has generously extended his support to LUMSby agreeing to fund one NOP scholar for the complete duration ofthe undergraduate programme.Umair Chaprha scholarship fundMr. Umair Chaprha, Director, G.P. Works, came forward to supportthe LUMS development initiative, National Outreach Programme,by setting up a fund for one NOP scholar enrolled in theSchool of Science and Engineering.and faculty. He was welcomed by Syed Babar Ali, Pro Chancellor;Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood, Rector; Dr. Ahmad Jan Durrani, ViceChancellor and Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Provost, LUMS.Mr. Jonsson appreciated how the funds donated by the Rausingfamily were utilised for the development of a premier educationalinstitution of Pakistan. He also thanked the LUMS administrationfor their hospitality. Later, he unveiled a plaque commemoratingthe Rausing family’s donation towards the development of thelibrary building. The guests also met the faculty of the School ofScience and Engineering (SSE).The founders of Tetra Pak, the Rausing family, have supportedLUMS since it was established in 1985. It was with their supportthat in addition to the library, LUMS set up the Rausing ExecutiveDevelopment Centre and the School of Science and Engineering.Millat Tractors auditoriumat the SSEGlaxoSmithKline Scholarship FundSalman Burney, CEO GlaxoSmithKline, extended his support to providepatronage to one NOP scholar enrolled in the School of Scienceand Engineering. We greatly appreciate the interest they haveshown in the recently established School of Science and Engineering.United Bank LimitedUBL renewed its commitment to fund an NOP scholar throughoutthe four years of LUMS undergraduate programme.Tetra Pak CEO Inaugurates Gadand Birgit rausing Library at LUMSThe President and CEO of Tetra Pak Group, Mr. Dennis Jonsson,visited LUMS on March 17, 2011, and met with the management
