MANAGEMENTResearchIn <strong>the</strong> 2008 <strong>UK</strong> Research Assessment Exercise (RAE)<strong>the</strong> department achieved recognition for <strong>the</strong>ir excellentresearch with 40% rated as <strong>in</strong>ternationally excellent orworld lead<strong>in</strong>g. The relevance of our research activityfor bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> fields such as entrepreneurship isdemonstrated by our recent national survey for <strong>the</strong>Federation of Small Bus<strong>in</strong>esses on <strong>the</strong> impact of <strong>the</strong>economic downturn on small bus<strong>in</strong>esses. This went onto be widely reported <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> media.The Charles P. Skene Centrefor EntrepreneurshipBased with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> University, <strong>the</strong> Centre has a reputationfor academic excellence for both teach<strong>in</strong>g and research<strong>in</strong> entrepreneurship. Prior to jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g AberdeenBus<strong>in</strong>ess School <strong>in</strong> April 2010, he held <strong>the</strong> post ofHead of Dundee Bus<strong>in</strong>ess School at <strong>the</strong> University ofAbertay. He is <strong>the</strong> newly appo<strong>in</strong>ted Chair of <strong>the</strong> OilIndustry F<strong>in</strong>ance Association, <strong>the</strong> body which setsStandard Oil Account<strong>in</strong>g Procedures for <strong>the</strong> North Seaoil <strong>in</strong>dustry. His research <strong>in</strong>cludes oil and gas account<strong>in</strong>gand regulation and has taken him around <strong>the</strong> world,work<strong>in</strong>g with <strong>in</strong>stitutions <strong>in</strong> Kuwait, Nigeria, Australiaand Ch<strong>in</strong>a. Professor Russell is currently supervis<strong>in</strong>ga range of PhDs.Dr Farooq AhmadCourse Leader, F<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>Management</strong>Farooq jo<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> University <strong>in</strong> 2005 after complet<strong>in</strong>ghis PhD <strong>in</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ance from <strong>the</strong> University of Stirl<strong>in</strong>g. Hisma<strong>in</strong> research area is gilt market, fixed <strong>in</strong>come securitiesand f<strong>in</strong>ancial markets efficiency analysis. He specialises<strong>in</strong> undergraduate and postgraduate teach<strong>in</strong>g of F<strong>in</strong>anceTheory, Corporate F<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>Management</strong> andInternational F<strong>in</strong>ance. Farooq has previously worked asLecturer and Assistant Professor of F<strong>in</strong>ance at <strong>the</strong>Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and as PostDoctoral Research Fellow at <strong>the</strong> Research Departmentof <strong>the</strong> State Bank of Pakistan.Carol AirCourse Leader, Purchas<strong>in</strong>gand Supply Cha<strong>in</strong> <strong>Management</strong>Prior to jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> University, Carol worked asa Purchas<strong>in</strong>g and Supply Cha<strong>in</strong> Professional, ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gextensive experience <strong>in</strong> supply cha<strong>in</strong> re-eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g.She was primarily <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> procurement ofelectronics and mechanical hardware <strong>in</strong> high and lowvolume global manufactur<strong>in</strong>g environments. At RGUshe teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduatelevel <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> areas of Strategic Purchas<strong>in</strong>g, Purchas<strong>in</strong>gPr<strong>in</strong>ciples and Operations <strong>Management</strong> .In addition to her first degree <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess, MBA and PostGraduate Teach<strong>in</strong>g Qualification, she is a full memberof; The Chartered Institute of Purchas<strong>in</strong>g and Supplyand The Institute of Operations <strong>Management</strong>.Carol’s research <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude; management decisionmak<strong>in</strong>g, MoD supply cha<strong>in</strong>s and public procurement.MOIRA BAILEYCourse Leader, Health Safetyand Risk <strong>Management</strong>Before jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> University, her roles <strong>in</strong>cludedPersonnel and Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Manager, Fur<strong>the</strong>r Educationlecturer and a freelance tra<strong>in</strong>er and HR consultant.Moira’s particular <strong>in</strong>terests are <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> improvementof student awareness and competency <strong>in</strong> relationto Cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g Professional Development (CPD).She delivers ‘Secur<strong>in</strong>g Your Bus<strong>in</strong>ess’, a CPD coursedeveloped <strong>in</strong> conjunction with Grampian Police, andshe is also a committee member and CPD Advisor for<strong>the</strong> North of Scotland and Islands Branch of <strong>the</strong> CIPD.Moira is also a licensed user of ‘Th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g Styles’, ametacognitive psychometric <strong>in</strong>strument which can beused as a management, team build<strong>in</strong>g or developmentaltool. Her particular research <strong>in</strong>terests are CPD, InformalLearn<strong>in</strong>g and The Psychological Contract. Moira hasrecently commenced an EdD research project with <strong>the</strong>University of Stirl<strong>in</strong>g, focus<strong>in</strong>g on Informal Learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>relation to Professional Competence.DR AHMED BELOUCIFCourse Leader, International Bus<strong>in</strong>essAhmed jo<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> department as Course Leader forInternational Bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> 2001. He has lectured for morethan 20 years at both undergraduate and postgraduatelevel as well as deliver<strong>in</strong>g consultancy and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>gworkshops <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>UK</strong>, Kazakhstan and Algeria.Ahmed’s research <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude corporate failureand f<strong>in</strong>ancial scandals with his PhD research based on‘Assessment of Relationship Quality: Auditors-ClientRelationships <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>UK</strong>’.
