Oakley ofTallahassee. It was purchased in 1987 with funds provided by Florida's Art in Public BuildingsLegislation and the UF Law Center Association. The sculpture was the very first installation ofart anywhere in Alachua County under terms of the State arts program, and was dedicated at alaw school Homecoming barbecue in ’87.Through the years, the sculpture has come to beknown affectionately by students, alumni, faculty and staff as “the Cheerios.”FIVE-YEAR REVIEW OF UFLAWEndowment AccountInformation from University of Florida Foundation, which administersinvestments, income of Levin College of Law EndowmentsFund BalanceTransferred toSpendable Funds(Restricted andUnrestricted)1997-98 $28,630,700 $ 816,5891998-99 $43,410,446 $1,197,4901999-00 $57,931,929 $2,429,6332000-01 $58,442,477 $2,905,3542001-02 $59,837,880 $2,971,718This indicates how annual endowment income flowing to the law schoolfor use – from more than $800,000 in 1997-98 to almost $3 million in2001-02 – varies based on the fund balance.Analysts know the 2002-03fund balance, and consequently the amount available fortransfer to spendable funds, will be more than 20% lower due to stateof the U. S. economy. Of the transferrable funds each year, approximatelytwo-thirds is designated by donors for particular uses and the remaindercan be used by College administrators toward annual operating andadministrative costs.Total Donors ....................................................................................2,188Total Gifts ..........................................................................................2,400EXPENDITURESANNUAL FUND[UNRESTRICTED)RESTRICTED &ENDOWMENT FUNDSAcademic Programs &Student Support $82,433 $712,269Career Services/Admissions/Financial AidLegal Information Center/Student OrganizationsFaculty Support $58,921 $1,409,467Faculty Enrichment Programs/Recruitment/Visiting Faculty/Travel to Conferences/Secretarial & Research Support/Chairs/Professorships/Research Scholar Positions/Research GrantsPublications $169,724UFLAW magazine/Reunion Publications/Development Publications/Photography/Production/Printing/Postage/Supplies/TravelDevelopment& Alumni Affairs $225,772Phonathon Expenses/Office & Operating Supplies/Travel/Advertising/Salaries/Postage/PrintingUF Foundation Administrative& Overhead $44,444Special Events $5,040Dunwody DistinguishedLecture Series $28,791Law Center AssociationAdministration $316Totals $542,206 $2,194,97114 ANNUAL REPORT
