ANNUAL FUNDANNUAL FUND CONTRIBUTIONSA New Source...Representatives of the Fall ’01 graduating class – Jamie Rodriguez and JohanneFoster – present a “Class Gift” check to Dean Jon Mills (left) and Immediate PastAlumni Council President Bruce Harris.The gift directed to the building campaignrevived a graduating class tradition dormant in the 90’s.Graduating Students Revive Class GiftWay back in ’88, the graduating UFLaw class wanted to leavesomething behind to honor the College and its students, soit raised more than $5,000. And previous classes also had raisedfunds toward landscaping and construction and to provide benchesfor the outdoor study terraces.Through the 90s, however, the “Class Gift” tradition was dormant.But in Fall 2001 at the December graduation a group of ’01graduates took it on themselves to revive the tradition and presented$4,050 to Dean Jon Mills toward the buildingcampaign.Organizing students were Johanne“We’re indebtedFoster, Jamie Rodriguez, TenesiaConnelly, Michael Grider, Josh Heller, to Fall ’01 gradsMiguel Suau, Jose Garcia and Eugenewho felt stronglyGregory.Five months later, the Spring 2002 this traditionclass at May commencement ceremoniesshould bestrongly endorsed the tradition’s returnby presenting a Class Gift of $13,530 resumed.”(including funds collected and pledged)to be used to help support law school organizations, activities andprograms. Leading the collection effort were SamanthaSchosberg, Dawn Henrichon, Mack Bernard, Ana Garcia,Natalie Jackson, Allyson Enfinger, Theo Kypreos andGeorge Moraitis Jr.All 16 representatives already are Alumni Council members.“The ‘Class Gift’ is a wonderful gesture of professionalism,”noted Dean Mills on accepting the ’02 grads’ contributions. “Animportant part of being a member of any profession is giving backto support and improve the institution that prepared you and otherswho will follow.
