Dr Edgardo Lander Prof Achin Vanaik Dr Hilary WainwrightProfessor ofSocial Sciencesat UniversidadCentral deVenezuelaand an Associate of the MirandaCentre in Caracas. Lander’s critiqueof commodification of nature underthe guise of UNEP’s ‘Green Economy’published by TNI was essential readingfor movements engaging with theprocess leading up to Rio+20 summitin <strong>2012</strong> and one of TNI’s most popularpublications in <strong>2012</strong>.Recently retiredas Professor ofInternationalRelations andGlobal Politics atthe University of Delhi, Vanaik is an activemember of the Coalition for NuclearDisarmament and Peace (India). His booksand writings range from studies of India’spolitical economy, issues concerningreligion, communalism and secularismas well as international contemporarypolitics and nuclear disarmament. In2009, the Indian Council for SocialScience Research (ICSSR) appointedAchin Vanaik as the General Series Editorpreparing ‘ICSSR Research Surveys andExplorations’ in the discipline of PoliticalScience. Four major volumes werecompleted and recently published byOxford University Press.Senior ResearchAssociate at theUniversity ofBradford in theUK, editor of RedPepper magazine and regular contributorto the Guardian newspaper. Wainwrightcontributed a chapter on the role oflabour in public sector transformationfor the MSP book on Alternatives toPrivatisation (co-published by TNI inSpanish), which was reworked by PublicServices International as an educationalpamphlet. As an activist-researcher,Wainwright is committed to socialisingthe radical practice and alternativesembedded in social movements.
