The NO contacts and NC contacts ofthe two contact blocks are connected for easy connection of asingle-phase motor. The normal workflow is initiated by pressingdown the pedal as far as the pressure point so that the two NOcontacts close and the motor starts to run.If in the event of danger the pedal is pressed beyond the resistanceof the pressure point, the positively driven NC contacts willopen and the motor is stopped. At the same time the independentlatching takes effect and holds the NC contacts in open position.This prevents the machine parts from continuing to run outof control or from being restarted.After the hazard is eliminated, the machine can only be restartedafter manually releasing the switch using a pushbutton on thetop of the enclosure. The contacts are then released again andreturn to their initial position (the NO contacts are open and theNC contacts are closed).■ Technical specificationsFoot switches with metal enclosuresStandard switchesThe 3SE2 9 and 3SE3 9 foot switch range encompasses versionsin a metal enclosure for rugged applications as well as versionswith plastic enclosure for less harsh environments. The devicescan be supplied with or without a cover and have fixingholes for them to be screwed to the floor.Depending on the particular application, the metal enclosurescan be ordered in latching or momentary-contact versions. Themomentary-contact pedal switch in the plastic enclosure hasone microswitch (changeover contact) per actuating pedal.Safety foot switchesThe 3SE2 924-3AA20 single-pedal safety foot switches are usedon machines and plants as OK switches when operation byhand is not possible and the EMERGENCY-STOP function mustbe available if a hazardous status arises.
