AQP HoseTechnical Manual

Introduction toAQP HoseEaton's AQP ® family of hose is scientifically superiorto any hose on the market today.Materially different, AQP hose is constructed withelastomeric materials that carry the U.S. Patent No.4,366,746. When launched in the early 70’s, there wasnothing like it. Over 30 years later, Eaton AQP isknown as the most reliable 300˚F hose in use in thefield today! Years of performance verification haveproven it's unique superiority. There really is, “nothingquite like it.The development of AQP was a major breakthroughby an Aeroquip ® team of chemists and engineers.AQP was the result of testing of thousands of compounds. The same cutting edge technology developmentcontinues today at Eaton in preparation for theeven tougher temperature and fluid compatibilityneeds of our customers.Take the AQP Test - Proven Performance.Prove it for yourself.2 EATON Aeroquip AQP Hose A-HOAQ-MC001-E1 March 2007

Introduction toAQP HoseLong Lasting ServiceAQP superiority is reflectedin its durability and longlasting service life under themost challenging conditions.AQP hose outlasts conventionalhose up to five timeslonger.Extreme TemperatureRangeIt’s superior in its operatingtemperature range of up to+302˚ F. with straight petroleumbase oils.NOTE: While they have alsoshown compatibility up to+302˚ F. with certain syntheticfluid types, the fluid manufacturer’srecommendedmaximum operating temperaturefor any specific namebrand fluid should be scrupulouslyobserved by the user. These recommended temperaturescan vary widelybetween name brandsbecause of different fluidcompositions, even thoughthey fall into the same generic“family” of fluids.Exceeding the manufacturer’srecommended maximumtemperature can resultin fluid breakdown, producingby-products that areharmful to elastomeric products,as well as other materialsin the systems. Thisalso holds true with petroleumbase fluids.Specific high temperaturesare shown next to each generalfluid type listed below. The AQP elastomer is resistantto many fluids notshown. For more information, contact Aeroquip withdetails of your intendedapplication. The following are Aeroquip’srecommended maximumfluid operating temperaturesfor AQP hose, by generalfluid classification.Fluid CompatibilityAQP hose superiority isreflected in its compatibilitywith virtually every type ofhydraulic fluid, lubricating oilor fuel at both high and lowtemperature extremes.*VersatilityThe AQP compound is usedin a variety of hose constructionsincludingMatchMate BLUE, HI-IMPULSE ® and HI-PAC ®designs to provide excellenttemperature resistance, extended fluid compatibilityand performance well aboveSAE standards. MatchMateBLUE, HI-IMPULSE and HI-PAC AQP hose meet SAEdimensional specificationsand exceed performance ratingsto meet the mostdemanding requirements.Reduce InventoryYou can reduce inventory bystocking Aeroquip’s AQPhose because of its greatdiversity of fluid compatibility. It’s no longer necessaryto inventory an assortmentof hose for use with petroleumand industrial phosphateester based fluids. Stockthe scientifically superiorAQP blue line and save yourinventory dollars.Shelf Aging PracticallyNonexistentAQP hose resists oxidation, effects of ozone and otheragents in the air at industriallocations. The Bottom LineYour operating efficiency canbe improved by AQP hose.Longer service life, lessequipment maintenance, less downtime, lessinventory…and the prompt, dependable service youhave come to expect fromAeroquip and its distributors.*Not recommended for usewith the following phosphateester type fluids typicallyused in aerospaceapplications: Stauffer Aero-Safe 2300W, Chevron Hy-Jet IV, and Monsant Skydrol500B, LD4.FluidStraight petroleumbase oilsPetroleum base fuelsIndustrial fire resistantsyntheticsWater/oil emulsions andwater/glycol solutionsOther industrial fluidsAirOperatingTemperaturesup to +302°F.up to +200°F.up to +180°F.up to +250°F.up to +250°F.up to +250°F.EATON Aeroquip AQP Hose A-HOAQ-MC001-E1 March 20073
