Ralph Edwards, B.S., M.S., Ed.D.: was a health and physicaleducation major at <strong>City</strong> <strong>College</strong>, served as vice president of the PhysicalEducation Society and graduated cum laude. He earned a master’sdegree in health education from the University of Illinois in 1954 anda doctorate from Teacher’s <strong>College</strong>, Columbia University in 1959. Hebegan his professional academic career at Queens <strong>College</strong> in 1954 andhas been an instructor at the University of Illinois, assistant professorat Columbia <strong>College</strong> of Columbia University, adjunct professor atQueens <strong>College</strong>, adjunct professor at Teachers <strong>College</strong>, Columbia Universityand New York University. He retired in 1988 as a full professorand Vice President for Administration and Planning at KingsboroughCommunity <strong>College</strong> (CUNY).Dr. Edwards also served as the Chief Premedical Advisor at Columbia <strong>College</strong> and the Chairman ofthe CUNY Chapter of the American Association of University Administrators. He was a member ofthe American Association for the History of Medicine and the Society for <strong>College</strong> and University Planning.He is the author of many articles on health topics, human sexuality, the history of health care,and college administrative services.Ralph is very appreciative of the education he received at <strong>City</strong> <strong>College</strong>. It solidified his love of learning.He is an avid collector of antique American glass. He also enjoys playing bridge, traveling, golf, andattending lectures. Ralph and his wife, Roberta, have two children and four grandchildren.***Murray Farber: As a commuter from Brooklyn, I served as areporter and copy editor on “<strong>The</strong> Campus”, which meant long hoursat the bottom of the Main Building and sleeping on the subway.After graduating in <strong>1953</strong> as a history major with fond memories ofProf. Samuel Hendel in poli sci, I entered the Army and marriedFrancine Marcus ’55, the first woman editor-in-chief of “<strong>The</strong> Campus”.I went on to spend 25 years in journalism, mostly at <strong>The</strong> NewHaven (CT) Register, where I was co-managing editor and later atWTNH-TV, New Haven, as managing editor-news.In 1980, while working in TV and teaching a journalism course atSouthern Connecticut State University, I also enrolled in graduatecourses at Fairfield University (CT) ’83, and was asked to become the public relations director for thisJesuit institution. I served for 18 years and earned my Master’s in ’83.
