Colin Vizor takes up the story“George, Tony and I were playing in a SeniorsCompetition on Thursday 11th April. Our shotstook us down the fairway towards a pond guardingthe 13th green. As we approached the green apair of Mallard ducks appeared walking togetheracross the fairway a few paces away.They stopped for a moment, the lady laid a lovelywarm, clean pale green egg on the grass in frontof us and they marched proudly off as if to say“Have this for your breakfast, you’ll play muchbetter tomorrow” !! Needless to say George gaveit to his niece for her tea and it was delicious.”Has anyone else had a strange encounter onthe golf course? – please let us know.NG: Golfers from BeamishPark are used to champagnemoments but some of themgot a surprise when theyvisited Northumberland.Their stay at the Hogs HeadInn – named after the Tavernof Harry Potter fame – took thehotel past the 10,000 guestmark since it opened after ninemonths of trading.Keith Liddell, director ofhospitality operator GreensfieldMoor Developments Ltd, whichmanages the 53-bedroomventure, said:“The first few months oftrading have been tremendous,beating all our expectations foraccommodation as well as food anddrink sales, while the inn’s futurebookings far exceed projectedtargets set.”Operations manager SeanDonkin presented bottles ofchampagne to the group of15 golfers from Beamish ParkGolf Club, who took the inn toits 10,000th accommodationguest milestone.NG: It’s always great to hearfrom our competition winners.This month Derek Lees fromPrudhoe Golf Club has beenin touch:“Can I thank all at the NorthernGolfer for the fourball I won forFulford Golf Club.
