Newest Pastoral Staff!Julie CavanaughPastor of Local <strong>Ministries</strong>Julie grew up in Calgary,Alberta. After graduatingfrom high school Julie attendedPrairie Bible Instituteand graduated witha B.A. in Ministry with afocus on Biblical Studies.It was there that she metJordan and the two weremarried in 2009. Julie hascontinued her educationand is currently pursuinga Masters of ChristianStudies from Regent Collegein Vancouver, BritishColumbia.It was Jordan’s call to minister to the Senior High youthat <strong>CrossRoads</strong> that led the pair to Red Deer shortly aftertheir marriage. Julie and her husband have beena crucial part of our church for the last four years. Shehas been a fundamental part of the leadership of SeniorHigh youth, building a strong biblical foundationamong our high school students. She has been a mentorand role model to a generation of young womenstriving to live godly lives.Julie’s leadership in our church was part of the reasonshe was asked to undertake a Community Social NeedsAssessment for <strong>CrossRoads</strong> through the beginning of2012. Julie’s heart and passion for our local communitywas made evident as she initiated a dialogue with communityagencies and organizations striving to make lifebetter for all in Central Alberta.Julie’s new role as Pastor of Local <strong>Ministries</strong> is an extensionof that dialogue. She will lead us as we narrowour focus to intentionally partner with and supportthe community agencies and organizations already atwork. Under Julie’s leadership we will continue to buildrelationships within our community with renewed effortand purpose. She will also educate and equip us asa congregation to engage more effectively on a locallevel. We are pleased and excited to have Julie join ourstaff and we know that her gifting and passion will beutilized by God. We are excited for the new work she isundertaking and look forward to being a part of it as webecome more invested in Central Alberta.Brenda BoycePastor to K-6 FamiliesBy the time she graduatedhigh school, Brendawas already a worldtraveller; moving fromWhitecourt, to Malaysiafor a large part of herchildhood. She finally returnedto Alberta in highschool, graduating inDevon before attendingthe University of Alberta.Upon graduating withdistinction with a degreein Elementary Education,she pursued her dreamof educating children.Brenda brings nearlya quarter of a century of professional education experienceto her new role at <strong>CrossRoads</strong>. Her resuméincludes years at Crestwood Elementary School inMedicine Hat, Alberta, as well as West Park Elementary,North Elementary and Gateway Christian School in RedDeer. She has served Gateway Christian School for thepast thirteen years as a Grade Five homeroom teacher,and has taught other grades in French and other subjects.Brenda’s heart for making a lasting impact on the nextgeneration has not been limited to the classroom. Shehas faithfully served on the board of the Red Deer Societyfor Christian Education and as a volunteer with variousorganizations including <strong>CrossRoads</strong> Kids.Brenda has been married to her husband, Vince, fortwenty-five years and they have two children; Jamie(21) and Cara (19). Together they have been a part ofour <strong>CrossRoads</strong> family since 2004. With practical andprofessional experience in ministering to families forthe majority of her life, Brenda brings a creative, energeticheart to our team.
