We are at theend of the school year and this experience has been very successfuland rewarding for us. We the Safety Patrol Team wouldlike to thank you for working so diligently with us in keeping ourschool safe throughout the entire school year. We have madenew friends, shared thoughts & feelings, and even though, somewill be moving on to the 6 th grade and embracing new opportunitiesas well as challenges, we look forward to welcoming newand future safety patrollers. In great respect and appreciation for those students who made asincere commitment to keeping our school safe, our field tripwas “Amazing”. Our day of fun began at 8:30am as we headedoff to Liberty Science Center, in Jersey City, NJ. We discovered(bugs while screaming); we felt the sensation of being on a 40story building while our hair was blowing like we were in a windblower. Overall, our day was very rewarding. We are looking forward to the new school year, to continue upholding the rules and regulations of the school thus securing asafe and friendly environment.MarchTiffany Frazier 13Nancy Constable 22Nicole Lovell 27Lesia Kusma 27Susie Simmons 27AprilAida Mella 26Marlene Toomey 29Melanie Bell 29MaySTAFF BIRTHDAYSMary McCaffrey 03Moishe Shayland-Williams 10Amalia Jimenez 11Jo Ann Barca 17Marvin Fields 27JuneMarisol Mexido 02Krystyna Stroinski 08Zoila Echeverry 12Anne Irving 22Joan McKeon 26Members of the Safety Patrol TeamKailah WilliamsChaliya BrownBrandon RoblesVictoria GarciaAndrea BendezuTanaya LeyvaMercedes CasanovaOmari SmithJihad McDuffieSylvia BasauriTiara MontesinoMUSIC EDUCATIONMRS. CONSTABLEWhat a child sings and speaks rhythmicallystays with them. Although Icould write about the vast amount ofwork we've undertaken to learnrhythmic and melodic patterns, harmony, dynamics, tempi, etc., perhaps words say it all.Does freedom actually ring from the mountain top? Hmm.This may be the moment to introduce or enhance themeaning of metaphor. Is there a lesson in singing aboutcreepy crawlers, wiggly worms, and splendid, spitting spittlebugs?I'm thinking alliteration. And, of course, exposureto vocabulary is priceless. Music even prepares for thosefuture SAT scores! Moreover, texts speak volumes about our culture and presenta plethora of opportunities to teach character andfundamental principals to our children. For instance, theemphasis of our spring concert was on responsibility, respect, consequences, and listening. I know the text willremain in their hearts and minds through the power ofmusic.8
