THE OFFICEThe schools office is situated at the 2nd floor of the London Muslim Centre. The openinghours are from 8:30am to 4pm (closed during lunch and salah times). Assemblies are held twice a week;one led by the students and the other by the teachers. These assemblies form part ofstudents’ spiritual, cultural, social and citizenship skills development.

Duringmid-day break students are taken to the main prayer hall to attend the maincongregation. They spend their morning and lunch break in three halls of the EastLondon Mosque and the London Muslim Centre supervised by the teachers. The schoolaccommodates the local school holiday dates for its term times where possible.However, it is closed for Eid days. Throughout the year, students’ progress is monitoredby the tutors and pupils are given an assessment grade at the end of each term. Parentsare regularly informed of their child’s progress with interim reports and a full annualreport.In the secondary provision the time table is arranged with a thirty period week, sixperiods each day with each period being fifty minutes. Each day begins with registrationat 8.00am followed by three periods, a twenty-minute break and then two more periodsbefore lunch and prayers concluding with a sixth period. The Secondary school closingtime is affected during winter and summer; in winter it finishes at 2:35pm and in thesummer at 2:45pm. Primary and secondary schools offer a broad and balancedcurriculum where all subjects are taught from Islamic perspectives.Al Mizan school teaches all students core National curriculum subjects inaddition to Tahfiz. It hopes that the gifted students would be able tocomplete the memorisation of the Quran in 4 years before theymove on to secondary level. Al Mizan Primary starts at 8:00 am andends at 4:30pm. Other arrangements vary slightly from the secondaryschool.‘Pupils’ very good attendance and punctuality, good achievements in key skills and selfconfidencecontribute very effectively to their future economic well-being and next stepsin education’.Ofsted report on London East Academy April 2011Provision for SEN and EALThe schools are selective and do not accept SEN and EAL students.
