Mass took placeat Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel and wascelebrated by alumnus Rev. Msgr. Howard WilliamCalkins ‘58. After Mass, a brunch was served inthe school cafeteria.Members of the Class of 1983.Jeff Danile ‘92and wife Debra,Emma and Lukeat Family DayAlumni Reunions &Family DayOn Saturday, October 4th, overone hundred alum from theClasses of ’63,’68,’73,’78,’83,’88,’93,’98,’03 and their guestscelebrated their reunions withcocktails and dinner on the<strong>Iona</strong> Prep campus. The Classof ’83 celebrated their twentyfifthanniversary and the followingday, the twelfth annual alumni family day wasenjoyed by the alumni and their families at thePaul Verni Fine Arts Center. They cheered thevarsity Gaels to a 35-21 win over Xaverian. Childrenof our alums enjoyed face painting, arcadegames and what turned out to be a warm icecone day.William G. Draddy ‘56 andLewis J. Leone ‘56William G. Draddy ’56 andLewis J. Leone ’56William G. Draddy ’56 and Lewis J.Leone ’56 have been inducted intothe New Rochelle Sports Hall ofFame. The annual induction dinnerwas held on October 30th at TheDavenport Club in New Rochelle. Billwas a member of the <strong>Iona</strong> Prep varsityfootball, baseball and basketballteam. In 1953, he was chosen to thethird team All County and All Met. Inaddition Bill was selected to play onthe NY Post All CHSAA and the NYJournal American All Scholastic 1stteam. He was given the New World All-Star FootballAward and received the Con Edison Awardtwice as CHSFL defensive player. Lew Leone ’56played <strong>Iona</strong> Prep varsity football won the CHSFLscoring title and was named All League’s first team.Lew also received the Con Edison Award and wasselected to the Westchester County second team.Congratulations Bill and Lew.On October 25th, a group of alums gather as they watch the undefeated varsity Gaels win41-21 over St. Anthony Friars (picture of Kenny Nixon ’81, John Verni ’80, Bill Peloso ’81,John Regan ’81, Steve Jeraci ’81 and Tom Taylor ’79)14 IONA PREP NEWS
